L.A Noire Nicholson Electroplating Review

Nicholson Electroplating Disaster, is the first L.A Noire DLC that Rockstar put out. The case is base on the real world O’Connor Electro-Plating plant explosion, that killed 17 people in 1947, but the developer, Team Bondi, changed the facts of the case to fictionalize it. Like the two pre order DLC, A Slip of the Tongue and The Naked City, Nicholoson Electronplating is a diversion from the plot, which is woven into the all of the cases. If you chose to skip out on this adventure, you wouldn’t be missing anything vital. What would you would be missing an intriguing case with some of the best action scenes in the game.

F.E.A.R. 3 Review

In an industry dominated by shooters, with few of them changing the
formula and most suffering from sequel-iatus, F.E.A.R. 3 attempts to be original by being a first-person horror shooter but falls short of its potential.

Dungeon Siege III – Xbox Review

There is no secret mule level.  While the first two Dungeon Siege games were Diablo clone click-fests that even gave you a mule to haul your loot, the new game in the series takes this franchise in a whole new direction.  It’s still an action RPG, but it’s now a streamlined affair with vastly upgraded graphics and combat, courtesy of a new developer, publisher and engine.

Duke Nukem Forever – Xbox Review

Duke Nukem Forever is finally here, after 14 years of delays and poking fun at both the studio and the game itself, you can finally play Duke Nukem Forever. The question that I imagine people want answered the most is whether or not the game has been worth the wait, the short answer would be a resounding “No” and more importantly, the game is just plain bad across all fronts. I’m sorry to say that what follows is not going to be easy to read if you were hoping that this game would deliver on over two generations of promises.

Star Raiders (XBLA) Review

Following Yar’s Revenge and Haunted House comes another Atari 2600 reboot.  The original Star Raiders can be attributed to inspiring the genre in the first person viewpoint and Atari have charged Incinerator Studios with paying tribute to the 1979 classic and creating an all-new space combat simulator worthy of the name and the ever-increasing list of good games on XBLA and PSN.

Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale Review

The biggest problem with Dungeons & Dragons is that you need to get a big group of people together in order to play it.  It’s a great experience, ruined by the need to interact with other humans. That’s why so many video games are inspired by D&D; you can pretend to be a wizard, without having to organize a group of people in the same place at the same time, or suffer the company of people whose only redeeming quality is a love for the game.

Shadow Complex Review

I had heard a lot about Shadow Complex
by the time I had bought my second Xbox 360. I had not really played
many downloadable titles, but I knew I had a “thing” for side-scrolling
action platformers, and knew that it would be a worthy purchase
alongside Super Meat Boy. I didn’t have great hopes for it,
although in hindsight I’m not sure why, it really embodied a lot of
things I enjoy about the infamous “Metroidvania” phenomenon. I was pleasantly surprised by a great game with a solid story and beautiful graphics.

Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury Review

Anyone
remember that game Hard Corps: Uprising that came out a few months ago? You
know, that game that constantly gift wrapped your ass and handed it to you over
and over again. Well, you get a similar feeling while playing Bangai-O HD: Missile
Fury
upon starting it up. This game is absolutely insane at first, and the
“Missile Fury” part of the title should be taken extremely literally. While early
experiences with this game are likely to turn off most players, there are
really only a couple things you need to learn in order to be able to have a lot
of fun with this game.

Outland (Xbox 360) Review

When first playing Outland, you can quickly tell there is
something missing in its unique visuals. The palate is limited to just a few
colors within the world and its inhabitants, including the main character
who is mostly in silhouette. After playing Outland, it’s safe to say that the “something
missing” also extends over to the gameplay.

The lacking visuals are interesting, though. Limiting the palate
to just a few colors makes what hues remain quite bold, and a quick glance is
enough to pull you in and have you test out the waters. Its lone, low-key
booth at PAX 2010 was fairly well occupied considering the title’s obscurity
because once you see the art style you think, “Hey, what’s this about?”

Mortal Kombat (Xbox 360) Review

Even
though the Mortal Kombat series has never really left the gaming world, it’s
certainly had trouble finding its place since the days of the arcade. This new
release takes the gameplay back to that era with a 2D fighting arena and
bringing back the traditional fatalities along with what has to be the greatest
Mortal Kombat roster ever. This isn’t a total throwback game though, the
fighting system is completely new and encourages you to use the moves available
to create your own custom combos.

This entry
completely reboots the entire series; the game begins at the end of the events
of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, with Raiden
sending a message to his past self before the first Mortal Kombat of what would
happen if he does not act. The story mode in Mortal Kombat is by far the best
in any fighting game, the game constantly shifts from cut scene to fight at a
break neck pace that manages to actually keep you interested. I played the
entire thing from start to finish in one sitting. The difficulty of the story
mode can be pretty messy though, especially when you’re faced with multiple
opponents that are followed by incredibly easy 1v1 battles. That being said,
the story mode does a great job of introducing you to some bread and butter
moves of all the characters, which is great once you have finished it.
