Bulletstorm Being Targeted By The Anti-Video Game Crowd

I’ll put the
link to the full story at the bottom. Seriously, isn’t it about time all these
anti-videogame people came up with some new lines? Not only are they about 15
years late to the point every single time, they just repeat the same, ignorant
argument over and over again.

Also, there
tends to be very extraneous remarks made in these types of attacks against
games that feature violence or gore. For example, in the article below, the
writer seemingly assumes that 9 year olds are going to know what a “gang bang”
is. Isn’t that stretching things a little too far, not to mention the fact that
9 year olds should be nowhere near a game like Bulletstorm. It’s the job of the
parent to control what games their children play, not the government and
certainly not the developer.

Tons of News In Latest Activision Conference Call

Activision finished up quite an investor call in the past
few days. And in this investor call they announced the cancellations of
multiple big named Activision franchises while also announcing a new studio.
The titles that have been cancelled are: the new DJ Hero, new Guitar Hero, and
True Crime: Hong Kong, the most surprising of those being True Crime. Though
none of us expected True Crime: Hong Kong to be a great game, Activision had
been talking about it for over a year now, and had demoed it to press multiple
times

Dead Space 2 Is Top Seller In UK After Launch

Apparently more people than you might think have a desire to strategically dismember gruesome monsters. Dead Space 2 came in at number one on all format charts in the UK for the past week. This a reported 70% increase in sales over the original. This is obviously great news for EA but the credit here goes to Visceral, the guys behind making the game. the first Dead Space was a surprise hit at the time, due to the lack of any real attention the survival horror genre had at the time. Now it’s clear that Dead Space has made its mark with the sequel, outselling heavy hitters like Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Epic and EA Takes A Huge Stab At CoD?

I stumbled upon on this video while browsing my usual forums. As far as I can tell, it is legit and not a fan made parody. If you don’t want to watch the video (which you should), it’s basically EA and Epic taking a huge dig at the modern war genre of first-person shooters. It puts Bulletstorm forward as a homage to much older frag-fest shooters like Quake and Unreal Tournament.

Shooters have definitely gone for a more realistic tone in recent years. This video is a pretty huge and public way to take a dig at a franchise if it turns out to be legit. But what do you think? Have EA and Epic bitten off more than they can chew, or have they hit the nail well and truly on its head? Bulletstorm is now only a few weeks away from release, and with Duke Nukem Forever coming out in May, it’s possible that these games could have a pretty big impact on the first-person shooter genre.

New Details about Batman: Arkham City

GameSpot sat down with Sefton Hill from Rocksteady Studios, the developers of the highly anticipated Batman: Arkham City. Sefton brings some light to the next game in the franchise. “Arkham City is about five times bigger than Arkham Island”, said Sefton. Rocksteady Studios has been hard at work. Everyone was shocked about how great the first game was and so the team has a lot to live up to. With such a bigger play area, Sefton insists that it won’t be a sandbox-style game adding, “Players will be able to go anywhere at any time”. Sefton also states that you can explore certain side alleys of Arkham City so you can find hidden side missions.
