IGN Editoral Department Suffers Heavy Losses

This week IGN Entertainment laid off four members of its editorial department. Dana Jongewaard, IGN’s Editor in Chief in “expanding audience” posted on Facebook on Thursday that she has left the company. Dana worked on IGN’s Greenpixel site and the Girlfight podcast. Fellow Co-host of the show, Nicole Tanner was laid off by IGN. The future of the popular podcast is unknown at this time.

The Wii U won’t be significantly more powerful than current consoles.

‘Rise of Nightmares’ Coming Exclusively for Kinect

Sega intends to publish Kinect’s first M-rated game with the
upcoming Rise of Nightmares. Players will fill the boots of an
American tourist
whose wife has been capture by a crazy scientist who has a thing for
resurrecting
the dead like all respectable scientists. The game will be played from a
first-person perspective and the emphasis will be on melee combat
rather than
traditional firearms (just think of House of the Dead meets Condemned and you’re
pretty much there). The game will take place in mansion-esqué environment and you’ll be
fighting zombies and other types of monsters (sounds a little familiar doesn’t it)
that you can dismember to your heart’s content.

Amazon Giving Away $100 Credit With Xbox Purchase Today

At the moment, when you buy an Xbox 360 with Kinect from Amazon, you’ll get a $100 credit.   Plus all of their Lightning Deals” today will be on video games.  This is the 4Gig model which means that you’ll probably need to spend some of that $100 credit on a bigger hard drive, but still the Kinect bundle costs $299, and with the credit, you’ll essentially be paying $199 for it, which also includes the Kinect Adventures game.

Crytek Does Not Have The Next Xbox

Crytek has always been at the forefront of modern gaming technology, with graphical pioneers such as Far Cry and Crysis. Therefore, it was almost believable when a rumor linked the German developer to Microsoft’s new next generation console last week. The report cited a “high ranking” source at Crytek as saying that the successor to the Xbox 360 would most likely be revealed at E3 2012, and that it would feature DirectX 11 integration. However, Crytek has stated that this rumor is not true, and that they have no knowledge of Microsoft’s future technology.
