Halo Anniversary Kinect Controls Detailed

It’s already been announced that the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will feature Kinect controls in some capacity. Well, now we know that not only will you look like a doofus in front of your television, but other people in the room might think you’re talking to yourself (or an advanced AI in your head).

Voice commands dominate the functionality, and will allow you to reload, throw grenades, and switch to the original Xbox graphics. That last one has me dying to know what the voice commands are, but unfortunately we’ll have to wait to find out. You’ll also be able to pull a Metroid: Prime and say the word “scan” to examine points of interest. No matter what you do though, you won’t be able to utilize your Kinect like this guy.

Devil May Cry HD Collection Announced

In the latest iteration of the HD remake craze that’s sweeping the industry, Capcom has elected to release the Devil May Cry HD Collection.  The collection will encompass the first 3 games of the series.  To be clear, the 3rd game included in the collection will be the special edition, not the impossibly difficult original version of DMC 3: Dante’s Awakening

For those of you not familiar with the enigmatic Dante, the collection will be a great way to get yourselves acquainted.  It’s set to be available for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 in North America in early 2012 for a price tag of $39.99.  Here’s hoping that Capcom does a better job updating the graphics of these games than they did with the recent Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica HD remakes.  Also, changing some of the camera angles in DMC 2 would be more than welcome.

Halo Waypoint Revamp in Fall, Anniversary Goes Gold

With Call of Duty Elite and Battlefield 3’s Battlelog entering the
fray, tracking services for multiplayer statistics is becoming a huge deal, and
now the Halo franchise’s Waypoint
service suddenly finds itself with competition. While Waypoint will not have a
premium component, 343 Studios plans to expand this service. The most notable
addition is ATLAS (which stands for “Advanced Technical Assault System). ATLAS,
which runs on a Windows Phone 7, provides the player with a top-down view of
any Halo Reach or Halo: Anniversary multiplayer map. This
map is updated in real-time, allowing players to keep track of their teammates’
position and weapon drop placements.

Why RAGE Doesn’t Have Deathmatch

Gamers across the globe have always looked to id Software since the days of Wolfenstein and Doom as the pioneers of the deathmatch.  With virtually every shooter released since those glory days in the early 1990’s having some sort of “kill everyone you see” multiplayer mode, it came as quite a surprise that id’s newest release, RAGE, was lacking the staple of first-person shooters.  In an interview with Kotaku, id’s Tim Willits sheds some light on the decision.

Paul Dini Interested in Writing Superman Game

Batman:
Arkham City
developer
Rocksteady has made the Batman video
game franchise a force to be reckoned with, but now they could have their eyes
set on another superhero – Superman. Paul Dini, writer for Arkham Asylum and the upcoming Arkham
City
, spoke to Yahoo Games recently about the future of DC superhero games,
and said I think it would be fun to do a character like Superman or Captain Marvel
or maybe Green Lantern…there’s a lot of reinvention being done on Superman at
the moment, both in the comics and in the movies and I think it would be fun to
revisit that character and kind of see what makes him tick.”
Because Batman is “real world-centric,” according to Dini, in his next
game Dini wants to amp it up a bit as far as the power level
goes and do more of a superhero with more superpowers.”
