Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Developer in Trouble

Despite the success of 38 Studio’s Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the developer looks to be deep in a financial hole. According to a report by a Rhode Island NBC affiliate, the Rhode Island government offered 38 Studios a $75 million loan to relocate from Massachusetts to Rhode Island, which they accepted. However, now the government is in talks with the developer about its future.

Skyrim DLC Confirmed For Summer Release

Bethesda has officially announced the release of Dawnguard for Xbox 360.  Due to Bethesda’s exclusivity right with Microsoft, the game will be arriving in summer for the Xbox, with no release for the PS3 or PC officially confirmed as of yet.

  With just the release image and other details on what the actual DLC will contain, Skyrim fans will surely be racking their brains as to the content of Dawnguard. It’ll be interesting to see how many features from the Skyrim Game Jam video, perhaps a focus on the vampire abilities or maybe new weapons? Though I’m no mastermind, with a name like ‘Dawnguard’ I’m pretty positive we can expect some kind of skirmish on Dawnstar.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Cancelled

Gamers looking forward to another visit into the forbidden zone of Chernobyl will surely be disappointed. Ukrainian studio GSC Game World has cancelled their upcoming project, “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2”today via their facebook page. In the post they acknowledge that they were in fact able to receive investors for the new project, but those investors weren’t comfortable with the tenuous licensing ownership over the Stalker brand.

Trials Hype Causes Problems

Whilst Trials HD was a phenomenally popular game, Trials Evolution is looking to be even more popular. Players may have noticed error messages being displayed whilst trying to access the games leaderboards, caused by an overwhelming amount of new users all trying to access them, resulting in server crashes. Over 100,000 downloads have now been reached since the game went live. Developer RedLynx released the following statement:
“We apologise for the inconvenience, and obviously we’re working closely with Microsoft’s backend team to improve the situation and prevent this sort of thing from happening again.”

Prey 2 Delayed Beyond 2012

The 2006 game Prey added a lot of twists to the First Person Shooter formula and got a good deal of critical praise for its clever story about a Native American man who is abducted by aliens and must fight for his freedom using a mixture of science and spirituality.  With features like wall-walking and reverse gravity it had some unusual gameplay, introducing those features before they became better-known in the Dead Space series.  The developer Human Head Studios was hard at work making a sequel for Bethesda, and it was slated to arrive this year, but an announcement today from Bethesda has stated that the game won’t be arriving this year at all.
