The developer Arkedo might be familiar to gamers who like to spend their Microsoft Points in the Xbox Live Indie section. They’re the team behind some of the best-rated indie games, including the Arkedo Series trilogy. They’ve teamed up with Sega for their next game, Hell Yeahwhich will take them into the big time by launching on XBLA as a full-fledged Arcade game.

The biggest cliché in video games is saving the Princess, but the second biggest is The Space Marine. Countless games have forced players to strap on the standard issue combat boots of generic troops to go out on bug hunts. But I can forgive Gearbox for making a game full of cosmic jarheads because their game Aliens: Colonial Marines is an official part of the franchise that gave us the cliche. Yes, space marines go back to the 50’s in the works of Heinlein and other military sci-fi writers, but James Cameron introduced audiences to the likes of gruff-but-concerned Sergeant Apone bad-ass Vasquez and “Seventeen Days? We’re not gonna last seventeen hours” Hudson.
In Sniper Elite v2, it’s 1945 and you play as Karl Fairburne; an ally Sniper positioned in Germany. The Germans have been secretly working on the V-2 rocket; the first long-range combat-ballistic missile ever created. You’ve been tasked to bring this technology to the allies. The main focus of the game is the recovery of this V2 information, normally retrieved via the assassination or capture of German scientists. Your objective in the demo mission is to plant explosives along a planned route of travel for one of the scientists and to make sure it goes boom.
Now that Duke Nukem Forever has been released (remember that?), and with Max Payne 3’s launch nearing, it would seem that Half-Life 3 is due for a release…right?
