X-Men: Apocalypse Gains New Mutants
Well, the only thing new about these mutants is that they are younger versions of the ones we have come to know and love. This news coming to us from
The Vox, reports that Director Bryan Singer has announced that key X-Men figures Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey now have the actors to play them.
Sophia Turner, who many know from the acclaimed HBO series
Game of Thrones, will play the original Marvel Girl, Jean Grey. Alexandra Shipp, who some may have heard of more recently in the last month or so following the recent Lifetime Network movie
Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, will play the Mistress of the Elements Storm, which might be interesting to see considering how
Apocalypse will be set during the 1980s, and that means, as many comic fans know, that Storm could be donning the punk look complete with the mohawk she wore during that era. Lastly, Tye Sheridan of
The Tree of Life and
Mud will be playing the first X-Man and field leader, Scott Summers a.k.a Cyclops.
This film is shaping up to the biggest
X-Men film yet and after
Days of Future Past, it seems to be a tall order to match or even, dare I say, surpass the 2014 effort. One thing's for certain, we will find out next summer.
X-Men: Apocalypse is currently schedule for release on May 27, 2016.
