SOCOM 4 Pushed Back to 2011

Those hoping to get their hands on SOCOM 4 in 2010 will be disappointed to know that Zipper’s SOCOM 4 for the PlayStation 3 has been pushed back to 2011. Jeremy Dunham, Senior Community Manager, Zipper Interactive made the announcement via the official SOCOM blog this past Wednesday. With the heavy anticipation to Zipper’s return to the SOCOM franchise on PS3, the team at Zipper is instead going to put in a little extra development time, as Dunham notes in the official post.

Sony Announces PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.41

When PlayStation 3 firmware 3.40 was released last month, Sony introduced a new 5 star rating system that users could use to rate any download on the PlayStation Store. Now, with firmware 3.41, which has gone live to all PlayStation 3 users, Sony has added a “You May Like” Section, which details various PlayStation Store items that other PS3 users have purchased based on what you may be currently browsing on the store front, as Eric Lempel, VP, Network Operations Americas notes on the official PlayStation Blog.

“This section lists additional items based on the purchases of other PlayStation Network members who have purchased the item you’re currently looking at.”

Everquest 2 Flirts With Free To Play

Seems Sony wants to get more involved in the free to play MMO market. Everquest 2 is launching a free to play model giving players free browser based content. The content is restricted to select areas of EQ2, and is not considered a replacement for the subscription model.

Halo: Reach announcement coming Thursday

Last month, we were given a glimpse into Halo: Reach’s campaign revealing never before seen features, a major one being space battles. Last week at Comic-Con, we were introduced to Forge World, the largest Halo map to date designed specifically with “Forgers” in mind. Well, it looks like tomorrow we’re set to get even more.

According to CVG, Microsoft is set to release a “special” announcement this Thursday at an invite-only event in London regarding Halo: Reach.
