City of Heroes Going Rogue now in Beta

The mighty and virtuous were summoned to assist Paragon Studios this month with the Beta test of the new City of Heroes expansion pack: Going Rogue, which challenges players to battle for publishing rights to Sarah Palin’s next book. Okay, despite the poor choice of name, Going Rogue actually takes place in a mirror universe that is ruled by an evil tyrant seeking total world domination.  No, I’m still not talking about Sarah Palin!

Haden Blackman Resigns from Lucas Arts

Haden Blackman, Executive Producer and Lead Writer on The Force Unleashed games, has resigned from his position at LucasArts. Blackman has worked at LucasArts for thirteen years, and, as well as both Force Unleashed games, has also contributed to Star Wars Galaxies and Star Wars Force Commander. In a statement, Blackman said; “While the decision to leave LucasArts did not happen overnight or come easily, I really feel that now is the best time for me to move on and explore new creative challenges and I look forward to the next phase of my career.”

Shogun 2: Total War Gameplay Trailer

Shogun 2 will be the seventh full Total War game, and the first since this years Napoleon: Total War saw great success. The original Shogun: Total War was the first in the Total War series, and the development team at the Creative Assembly have been keen to reiterate that Shogun 2 will return the series to its roots; a full circle, so to speak. This will firstly, and most obviously, see a return to feudal Japan as the setting, and consequently see a slight reduction in terms of scale and the different types of units. Fear not, strategy fans, this reduction should be seen more as a streamlining: the smaller number of units will have far more defined roles on the battlefield.

Players Will Decide if Carmine Lives or Dies

The Carmine family has had some pretty foul luck when it comes to military service. We were introduced to Anthony Carmine in the original Gears of War, whose career was tragically ended by a sniper round to the head. In Gears of War 2 the boys of Delta were given a rookie to train who just happened to be the youngest Carmine brother, Benjamin. Although green as grass, Benjamin showed a lot of courage against the Locust swarms but it was eventually his inexperience that separated him from Delta squad and caused his death.
