New Left 4 Dead DLC Announced

Left 4 Dead 2 has received a heaping amount of new content in the form of the Mutation mode that provides weekly game variants (most of them good) and DLC campaignThe PassingLeft 4 Dead 1 is going to join the fun too with The Sacrifice, its first DLC since Crash Course last September. The Sacrifice will cover the events leading up to Bill’s death in The Passing, and it will be played from the Left 4 Dead original cast’s perspective.  The Sacrifice can be played from either Left 4 Dead or Left 4 Dead 2, and if you are playing it in Left 4 Dead 2, you can play the No Mercy campaign with all the Left 4 Dead 2 weapons and enemies. All of this can be played on both PC and Mac, so Valve isn’t kidding with the Mac support stuff…

Mafia II Out Now

Mafia II is out for PC and I have to disagree with the preview that my cohorts posted over in the XBox department a couple of weeks ago.  They didn’t care for it based on the Demo, but I quite enjoyed it and think it’s worth a look, for PC gamers at least.

For those not familiar with the franchise, it’s basically a Grand Theft Auto Clone, a really good GTA clone.  The setting is 1945-1955 in a fictional version of New York called “Liberty City”.  I mean “Empire City”.  You can free roam around the city, stealing cars, driving anywhere you want, listening to various period radio stations…

Portal 2 Set for February 9, 2011

In 2007 Portal came as a huge surprise to many of us. The intelligently designed puzzle platformer was one of 2007’s most critically acclaimed that year when it was packaged in with the Orange Box. With the official announcement of Portal 2 back in the April edition of Gameinformer, many wait to see whether or not we can get that same experience in a sequel.

New Multiplayer Goldeneye Trailer

Nostalgia is an emotion often evoked by numerous sights, sounds, and even tastes. One sight that will surely evoke nostalgia is the new Goldeneye trailer for the Wii. Shown at one of the largest video-game-centric conventions ever, Gamescom, was a new multiplayer trailer for Goldeneye. Fans of late night gaming snack-a-thons can rejoice even more.

“A new Goldeneye has arrived, so what are you going to do?” asks the new Goldeneye trailer. As if you need time to think about the said question, the trailer continues and shows off many aspects of Goldeneye’s multiplayer. One will note that many aspects which made the first game so successful are shown to be present in the trailer.

Gimmicks: 3D

Video games have always been involved with gimmicks. Well before the move, kinect, and the Wii there were things that game companies wanted us to shell out our cash to buy. Case in point the Nintendo Power Glove (which I won’t talk about, but I’ll let the nerd do the talking on that). However these days gimmicks are everywhere in the entertainment industry, and most likely won’t be going away. However I think some need to know more about this stuff, and gimmicks in general. I don’t know where better to start talking about gimmicks that to mention 3D.
