Who’s Winning the Console Wars?

It’s been debated ever since the launch of the consoles in 2005/2006, who will win the war between the three big monster pieces of tech?  At first, it seemed like the Wii winning was inevitable but since then, the Xbox and PS3 have slowly started to take ground. The war between the consoles, money-wise, is all but over. The Wii averages around 300,000 consoles sold a month even now, four years after its launch. This proves we’ll see a Wii 2 (HD?), we can only hope they have an actual shot at winning the war next time around, and not just one battle.

Forever Has Arrived

Way back in 1991 Apogee Software released a crappy side-scrolling shooter called Duke Nukem which was set in the distant future of 1997 (HA!) By the time the real year 1997 rolled around, Duke had become a franchise of mediocre shooting games which managed to stay in the public eye because of the quaint controversy over the fact that the game had some levels set in strip joints.  Yet that glorious future of 1997 held the promise of one more Duke game:  Duke Nukem Forever.  Now, after thirteen years in development, Forever Has Arrived!

Strangely, there is not much in the way of PSN games for this week. But perhaps as we are getting close to the Move release date maybe Sony are saving some things up for a bigger drop in the next couple of weeks.

Mafia 2 (PS3) Review

The life of organized crime has always appealed to audiences striving for an iota of power. The idea that even the lowliest dock worker could become the leader of a mob syndicate based solely on who they know is, in many ways, a Cinderella story for the working class. Video games share that same appeal allowing the player to slip into a role of power whether they become a superhero, a super-soldier or anything in between. It would seem that mobsters and games should go together like pinkies and rings, but in the case of Mafia 2, the glamour and appeal fade quickly. As Vito Scaletta, it’s your job to slog through every mob cliché known to man.

Dead Rising 2 Case Zero Double Review

With Dead Rising 2 just around the corner Capcom has released a taste of what is to come in the form of the 360 exclusive Dead Rising 2 Case 0. It not only shows us how the final game will play, but also gives us an early preview into the characters we will be seeing as well. However the question remains. Is this a glorified demo, or is this an interesting form of DLC?
