VVVVVV Review

VVVVVV is one of the few games that is perfection. It is not the most ambitious, nor most hyped game of 2010, but what it is is a difficult, challenging, and incredibly polished platformer. VVVVVV was made by Terry Cavanagh and released on distractionware.com for $15, and while it looked cool, I (foolishly) didn’t think it was worth the price. When it came onto Steam for $5, and my friend recommended it vehemently, I had to take a look. Lo and behold, the game turned out to be one of the best this year.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions (PS3) Review

Spider-Man is a hero that resonates with people not just because of his ability to propel himself high above skyscrapers and string up hoodlums, but because his humanity permeates through his mask and is a genuinely friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. You can’t help but root for him even though he has been in quite a load of fodder games and bad movies over the years. The one constant source of Spider-Man nirvana stems from the pages of comic books. His battles and stories are so compelling that writers have rejuvenated and rebooted the canon time and time again. Developer Beenox hopes to draw inspiration from some of Spider-Man’s greatest incarnations in order to deliver a game worthy of the fiction.

Obsidian Unveils Cyborg Dog and Other Fallout Companions

The Fallout series is known for its stories, and cast of characters, including the companions who join the Player of your quest.  Bethesda’s spectacular epicFallout 3 had a great selection of people, robots and creatures who would join you as you wandered the wasteland, including the obligatory Fallout Dog; Dogmeat. Yesterday Obsidian Entertainment, the developer of Fallout New Vegas announced the people/ things who will join you on your trip to New Vegas. Depending on the choices you make in the game (Alignment and such) you’ll be accompanied by various humans, a Ghoul, a female Super Mutant, an upgraded Eye Bot, and- best of all- a cyborg dog who is 209 years old (That’s 1,463 in dog years)

The good news keeps on coming from this years Tokyo Game Show in Japan. Here is a quick summary of a few more games that we have learnt a bit more about: The Last Guardian – Along with a new trailer that includes real-time gameplay footage, Team ICO have also given a rough release window for the highly anticipated The Last Guardian. We should now be able expect the game some time in Holiday 2011.

TGS: New Dead Rising 2 XBLA Game Announced

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero was released recently and was met with mostly rave reviews. I for one loved it. At the Tokyo Game Show Capcom announced a follow-up type thing entitled “Dead Rising 2: Case West.” While this title may not be so well named, it’s more Dead Rising, and that seems fine to me.

Tokyo Game Show Announcements for PS3

A lot has been happening at this years Tokyo Game Show, and there have been a few interesting new titles announced. So, here is a summary of some of the PS3 games we can start looking forward to: Shadows of the Damned – Published by EA; You head into the world of demons and your role is as a professional demon killer. Gameplay is rumoured to be similar to that of Resident Evil 4, as well as including motorcycles that you will be able to ride. Currently it is scheduled for summer of 2011.
