Medal of Honor Review

Medal of Honor is a game that garnered skepticism from the start, with a trailer in the Spike VGAs that looked unnervingly like Modern Warfare 2; a trend in games that was appearing at the time. Things got worse for the fledgling remake when the multiplayer beta came out, where critics and players alike bashed the game for the apparent lack of quality and originality, myself included. Being an optimist, I tried to look at the possibility of the positive things that could come out of Medal of Honor. Very few details on single player had been released, meaning that the single player could be good, or alternatively go the other way, with my hopes resting on the former outcome. Now that it’s finally come out though, Medal of Honor is exactly what the beta made it out to be: a poorly constructed, unoriginal, and thoroughly boring game.

Sonic 4 Episode 1 (PS3) Review

It’s probably safe to say Sonic never really coped with the move to 3D with the same ease that his old rival Mario did. And although some of the first Sonic Adventure titles on the Dreamcast were decent enough games they never seemed to progress into anything that would catch peoples attention like the original games did back in the 90’s.

The thing that made the original Sonic games so good was the mix between very fast gameplay, strong clean graphics, and a good challenge. Sonic 4 Episode1’s main aim is to go back to basics and only be a slight evolution of this format. From that perspective it is a definite success. The visuals are highly colored and detailed but remain easy to understand even when Sonic is running around at full speed. Sonic’s movement also feels and controls much like it did, with the original spin dash and the power-ups like Speed Shoes still in tact.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 Review

Nostalgia is a funny thing. It can lead you to believe that the stuff from your memories is better than it actually ever was. I call this little process “selective memory,” and basically it boils down to the fact that you remember the good things about your memories rather than the bad things. For example, let’s say that you had a dog during your childhood and you recall this dog being an amazing companion. You remember playing fetch and having a fantastic time, when in reality the dog was barely capable of chasing his own tail and chewed the upholstery off the furniture. You hold the dog in high regard because you developed an affinity for the dog, not because the dog was actually a great dog.
