New releases this week for PlayStation 3, both in store and on PSN, are dominated by Dead Space. The highly anticipatedDead Space 2 comes to stores, and an updated version of the Wii game Dead Space Extraction is available on the PlayStation Network.
Electronic Arts has already announced the first DLC pack for Dead Space 2, which was released just yesterday. While no in-depth details have surfaced, this new DLC pack dubbed “Severed” will feature two new single player campaign chapters in which players will take control of two different characters. Gabe Weller, a Security Guard who appeared in 2009’s Dead Space: Extraction on the Wii, will make an appearance once again alongside Lexine Murdoc–in a desperate fight for survival against the necromorphs.
I played the first Rearmed and it was perfectly fine, but I didn’t understand all the hype surrounding it. Maybe it was the lack of attachment to the original product or maybe it was just the fact that it had its own nagging problems?

The Superhero MMO, Champions Online is now free-to-play. You’ll be able to access just about all of the content in this rock ’em sock ’em super slugfest for the low price of nothing! After a year and a half of charging a monthly subscription fee to all players, the game is now divided into Silver Accounts which are the free-to-play members, and Gold Accounts which is the new term for paying a monthly $14.99 fee.
We recently reviewed the first episode of the French Indie game Winter Voices, and enjoyed it quite well. It’s an episodic game which will be released in seven installments priced at five dollars each. Three have been released so far, and the developer Beyond the Pillars has now bundled them together with a twenty percent discount. That’s twelve dollars for the three episodes together; each has a play time of three our four hours.
I’m starting to think that our glorious hobby has turned into a Care Bear fest. When Grand Theft Auto 4 took heat for its morals, we were jumping all over the networks for their thoughts and lack of journalism. Stories like this pop up all the time, and what do we do? We jump all over the place, defending our different positions on video games. We’re screaming and arguing the whole time of who is right and wrong.
