Duke Nuken Forever “Balls of Steel Edition” Allegedly Coming Out

After hearing about this game for fifteen years, I won’t believe that Duke Nukem Forever has been released until AFTER I play it.  Even when I hold the disk in my hands and see it installing, I’ll cling to my skepticism until after I have finished the game and determined it to be a completed product.  Now the publishers of this game, 2K are trying to convince me that they’re also releasing a collectors edition called the “Balls of Steel Edition”, which only adds to my sense of disbelief.  Regardless, I’m sure it’ll look nice on my shelf next to collection of unicorn horns and phoenix eggs.

Dungeons Preview

Dungeons is a new title from Realmforge Studios that takes another look at the dungeon simulation genre in an innovative and fresh way. In a similar game, Dungeon Keeper, the player had to take care of the creatures in their dungeons in order to properly defeat heroes who would dare to enter the ever changing labyrinth. While that remains an important component of developing your dungeon, Dungeons seeks to properly satisfy the invading heroes’ lust for gold, treasure and advancement in order to harness the Soul Energy stronger heroes possess. As the formerly most powerful Dungeon Lord amongst competing Lords, the player must ascend the ranks and regain the majesty they once had; previously weaker Lords have become your new bosses and you must often complete tasks that meet their particular idiosyncrasies.

Weekend Sales Friday February 4th

It’s another day of lackluster online sales.  While you’ll probably find something below to suit your tastes, we’re having a hard time finding anything recommend.  The Electronic Arts store is selling Dead Space for half off which is $9.97.  While that’s just dandy, there were plenty of places selling it for less than that over the last few months.  This is still a good deal if you’re on the fence about buying the sequel, and want to try out the first game in the series while you wait for price breaks on DS2.

Apparently more people than you might think have a desire to strategically dismember gruesome monsters. Dead Space 2 came in at number one on all format charts in the UK for the past week. This a reported 70% increase in sales over the original. This is obviously great news for EA but the credit here goes to Visceral, the guys behind making the game. the first Dead Space was a surprise hit at the time, due to the lack of any real attention the survival horror genre had at the time. Now it’s clear that Dead Space has made its mark with the sequel, outselling heavy hitters like Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Console Exclusives We Want on PC – Alan Wake

We PC gamers can be smugly assured that we have the best hardware; our gigantic hard drives, state of the art graphics cards and laser-precise mice give us a clear edge over console gamers.  But what about the games we play?  Admit it, we all get console envy from time to time when some new AAA game comes out only for Xbox of Playstation.  There’s no shame in confessing that you want to play some piece of forbidden Wii fruit either.

DICE Cancels Battlefield 1943, BC2 Onslaught for PC

DICE has made the difficult decision to completely drop PC support for the previously XB360 and PS3 exclusive Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2‘s Onslaught mode. This was in order to dedicate as much development effort as possible into the making of Battlefield 3, DICE’s next entry into the behemoth Battlefield franchise. Hopefully the loss of these titles will mean Battlefield 3 will be that much better, running on the team’s new Frostbite 2 engine.
