The PS3 Team’s Most Anticipated Games of 2011

2010 was a great time to be a gamer, and it looks like 2011 will continue that trend. There should be a ton of great games coming all year long, but all of us have at least one that we’re looking forward to more than others. It doesn’t have to be rational or perfectly reasoned, it’s just the game we can’t wait to get our hands on. These are our picks for the games we’re most eagerly anticipating as Playstation 3 owners for the rest of the year.

Dungeons – PC Review

Dungeons is a new dungeon management simulation game from
developer Realmforge Studios, which puts a small spin on the tried-and-true
Dungeon Keeper rhetoric. Instead of having to care for a large portion of
minions while trying to keep heroes out of your hair, you are instead expected
to entertain the heroes in question, luring them into your dungeon, getting
them fat and happy with soul energy, the game’s main currency, and then
striking them down or imprisoning them to drain that energy out of them. This
is an entertaining twist on a good idea, and it is helped by some other good ideas.
Unfortunately, there are a few bugs and odd design decisions that hinder an
otherwise excellent game.

Activision To Cut Franchises

It
has been confirmed that Activision is cutting several franchises
including
Guitar Hero,
True Crime, and Tony
Hawk
in 2011 due to declining
sales. This action could prompt job cuts for employees at Freestyle
Games and 7 Studios. The move to disband the
Guitar Hero
business unit is directly linked to sales of the game declining since
it earned $2 billion from 2005 through 2009. It’s clear that the
popularity of the games has dropped as well and with other genres
reshaping the industry, it’s easy to understand why the franchise is
getting axed.
Guitar Hero
had a very respectable run however, and was among the most popular
titles in 2006 and 2007, but now it’s game over.

THQ Store Having 75% Off Sale

Publisher THQ is having one huge sale on dozens of downloadable games.  Pretty much everything in their catalog is marked down by 75% right now, with no specific end date for the sale announced.  The only catch is that these are the downloadable versions of the  games, not retail copies.  But that’s a small price to ask in exchange for offering products like Metro 2033 for ten dollars, along with many other games for five dollars.

Console Exclusives We Want On PC – Red Dead Redemption

Yeah, PC games tend to be very awesome, with better controls, better graphics, and better communities. Sure, the power of our gaming machines far outmatches the consoles too. However, there are definitely some games out there that we want very, very, badly. The problem? They’re only on consoles, even if we feel they would be perfect for the PC. We may even be promised a PC version only to have it cancelled at the last second for some games.
