Originally delayed until Fall 201,1which usually means November in the gaming
world. Microsoft have revealed that the final instalment for Gears will take
the spot that Halo titles usually occupy.
Despite a misleading advertising campaign, the original Dragon Age was a huge critical and commercial success. PC Gamers especially enjoyed it as it was a return to the style of old school Balder’s Gate gameplay that Bioware was originally known for. The sequel comes out next month and looks to be dynamically different from the first game. In anticipation of the game’s release I played through the new demo not once, but twice.
Frankly, I don’t understand how someone can possibly own Half Life Two, and not own the downloadable Episode 2, but if you fit that category, you’re in luck, because Steampowered.com is selling Ep 2 for 80% off. That makes it two bucks, and needless to say, it’s a must buy if you already have Half Life 2 and Episode One, not to mention an excuse to grab the lot of them if you haven’t played this franchise yet.
Some big new releases out
this week for PlayStation 3. The main new game out in stores is Killzone 3, the sequel to one of the biggest
PS3 games of ’09. Other games out include Bulletstorm; an over-the-top
first-person shooter with signature “skill shots” that reward players for taking
out enemies in the most creative ways possible. De Blob 2, the sequel to the popular platform puzzle game, and Knights Contract which is an action
adventure game developed by Game Republic.
New to PlayStation Network is a re-release of the vintage arcade game Space Ace, the science fiction shooter Alien Breed 3: Descent,
and Days Of Thunder – Nascar Edition, which is a racer with characters
from the 90’s film.
Epic’s new hyperviolent shooter Bulletstorm is built around the idea of the Creative Kill, and players are dying for the chance to mutilate some space mutants in this game. The only problem is that it doesn’t come out for HOURS! How will gamers fill the time until those midnight launch parties? It’s noon the day the game came out, and EA has just sent out a press release detailing the first Bulletstorm DLC pack. Most players still probably haven’t had time to pick up their pre-orders for this, and will return home from Gamestop to discover that they’re already expected to shovel out a few bucks for some bonus levels. This is pretty much the same thing that happened with Dead Space 2 on launch day last month, and it marks a very annoying trend for the industry.
The simulation genre is a bit of an odd one.
The genre is most well known for games like The Sims, SimCity, and as well as the more niche titles like RailWorks and Farm Simulator. Cities in Motion (CIM), the newest simulation game, features a transport management simulator. Developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive, CIM has you taking control of transport systems of various famous European cities (such as Amsterdam and Berlin) and managing them from the 1920’s to the present day, all in the name of profit.
