Gameplay Footage for Arkham City Released

The first
gameplay footage for Batman: Arkham City is out and even though
it’s not giving away
everything that Rocksteady Studios has been working on for the past
couple of years,
it is certainly awesome. Plenty of new abilities are shown in the
trailer as
well as a lot of insight into who you’ll be running into along your
travels. This has definitely been long overdue for a while, but believe
me when I say the wait has been justified.
No word on
what version the footage is from, but everything does look a little sharper
than the first game. I’m not going to spoil it all for you, though — go and watch
the trailer below and then get ready for some more Batman this October.

Midweek Sales Tuesday March 15th

I’m sure that in a day or so, we’ll be seeing some alcohol-themed game sales for St. Patrick’s Day, but so far this week we’re looking at some rather boring sales for online games.  Steampowered.com is selling the aerial combat game Dog Fighter Aces High for 75% off which makes it $2.49.  They are also selling a few other games at discounts now as well; all Oddworld Tiles, including the Oddboxx compilation are half off, several game sin the Majesty franchise are marked down by as much as 80%, and the Crazy Machines Everything Pack is 40% at $24.99.

Interview with Michal Marcinkowski – Part 2

I recently had the chance to ask Michal Marcinkowski, the
creator of Soldat and currently the developer of Link-Dead a few questions over
the web. This was quite an honour for me, as Soldat is one of my favourite
games of all time, and I fervently awaiting the full release of Link-Dead.

Dragon Age II (Xbox 360) Review

Bioware has quickly formed into one of the few companies that no matter what video game they put their name on, it’s guaranteed to be a success. Bioware never fails to deliver an epic, lengthy adventure consisting of many twist and turns but ultimately ending with apropos satisfaction; as is the case with their newest release, the sequel to the massively popular Dragon Age, Dragon Age II.

Dragon Age II is told from the perspective of one of you party members. Varric. He’s been captured and forced to blab up some information about the story of Hawke (which is the main character) and his adventures through the glorious city of Kirkwall. This is a nice way to make the few large time jumps understandable and relevant to the story. The story of Dragon Age II is simply put, incredible. It’s deep, dark, twisty, and as engrossing as any Best Picture nominee at the Oscars. It’s very clearly broken up into three acts, with three separate story arcs looming over all the acts. While the third act is by far the shortest, it is also the best. It seems as if Bioware’s design philosophy for the third act was to not give the player a single second where they wanted to stop playing just because of how intriguing the story is.

Battlefield 3 Preview

DICE is going back to basics. After the more console-centric titles Bad Company and its sequel, Bad Company 2, the Battlefield franchise is returning to what once made it so great: PC. Battlefield 3 is set to be released at the end of 2011, and is a direct sequel to the grand strategy of Battlefield 2, with its more wide-ranging maps, equipment and command systems. Whereas Bad Company 2 was designed to counter the massive tide that was Call of Duty, absorbing many of its innovations to appeal to smaller-sized battles, Battlefield 3 brings back humongous environments where fighter jets are possible, as well as 64 players to a map. The environmental effects of Bad Company will be integrated for what could be an amazing experience.
