Midweek Sales Thursday March 31st

Something suspicious is going on over at the internet’s biggest digital distributor.  Steam didn’t have a midweek sale, and haven’t announced announced their weekend sale yet.  I suspect that somewhere around midnight we can expect some sort of April Fool’s shenanigans to kick in with a big sale over there.

Mega Man Universe Cancelled

Sad news for Mega Man fans today as Capcom announced on the
official website for Mega Man Universe that the game is being cancelled.

Although the site’s message contains an apology, it did not
have any information as to why the game was cancelled, only mentioning “various
reasons.”

The Mega Man franchise has been running into trouble lately,
first with series creator Keiji Infaune leaving Capcom while criticizing
Japanese game development, and lately with Mega Man Legends 3, a title
announced for the new Nintendo 3DS handheld, in an uncertain state.

“L.A. Noire” Gets Honored at Tribeca Film Festival

L.A. Noire is shaping up to be one of Take Two’s and Rockstar Games’ next big franchise. The L.A. Noire will be part of the Official Selection at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival. This is the first time a game has ever been a part of the Tribeca Film Festival. Rockstar Games Founder said, “We’re thrilled that L.A. Noire is being recognized by the Tribeca Film Festival in this way.” He also goes on to add,  “It’s a real honor, and another step forward for interactive entertainment.”

While at the Film Festival, Rockstar will give an exclusive preview of L.A. Noire on April 25, 2011. They will be showing off a live demonstration of a case in L.A. Noire. That will then be followed by a Q&A session that will involve the technology behind the game, along with the story. This session will be moderated by the Tribeca Film Festival Chief Creative Officer, Geoff Gilmore.

Gearbox Denies Duke Nukem Forever Delay was a Marketing Ploy

It’s not much of a suprise, hell… even the guys at Gearbox and 3D Realms must have seen it coming. But Duke Nukem Forever got delayed by an entire month, originally due for a worldwide release on May 6th 2011, despite being in development for an eye-watering 14 years.

After the recent push-back of the latest installment of Duke’s ventures into girls and guns, which was announced by Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford via a comedic youtube video; rumours spread that the delay was nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

New Releases This Week for PS3 (3.28.11)

Another strong week for new
games on the PS3, especially for racing fans with three new racing games arriving
in stores in the shape of: NASCAR 2011,
Shift 2, and MotoGP.
Also out in stores this week

Atari Announces “Warlords” Remake

Video game veterans Atari Europe has now announced the remake of 1980’s classic castle defense game Warlords.

Originally on the Atari 2600, Warlords
is an action strategy game where up to four players must defend their
castles from mischievous minions and a fire-breathing dragon as they
multitask in order to build defenses and rally troops in order to gain
control points and destroy other factions. As well as the original
premise of the game mixed with new layers of strategy, players can
experience a mix of online competitive and cooperative game modes,
including co-op siege mode and classic free-for-all battles.
