Sony Attacked by ‘Anonymous’ Hacker Group

An internet hacker gang, only known as ‘Anonymous’, has declared war on Sony
Computer Entertainment, launching a series of distributed denial of service
(DDoS) attacks against the company, resulting in customers not being allowed
access to any of Playstation’s online services for a short period of time,
including the Playstation blog and the Playstation store. This attack is said
to be retaliation against the legal action that Sony made against George
“GeoHot” Hotz earlier this year, who has been accused of writing and
distributing software to hack PS3 system’s to run unauthorised software,
including Linux and pirate copies of videogames. The distribution of what is
known as “Jailbreaker” software led to Sony sending out emails to all PS3
user’s who were found to use the software, and to stop using it immediately.
Failure to adhere their warning would lead to being permanently banned from the
Playstation Network.

Following the online attacks against Sony, referred to as “Operation
Payback”, it is now apparent that the dirty tactics are taken to a much more
personal level, as a splinter group of Anonymous, called ‘SonyRecon’, now aims
to collect personal information on employees of Sony, including the marital
status and home addresses of Sony Executives, and lawyers who are involved in
the Hotz court case. The hackers claimed that the individuals that they would
attack are “useful targets”.

MVC3 Shadow Pack 02 Impressions

Marvel Vs Capcom 3 has been steadily updating and getting new additions since its release back in February. New characters, costumes, and modes of play have been keeping things fresh and exciting for those who really want to invest in the game. Recently, however, there’s been some rather unpopular decisions made by Capcom regarding their newest fighting sensation.

“Shadow Mode” is a gametype where you select your team of heroes and battle against AI opponents programmed with the playstyles and patterns of developers and producers. The first pack had you fighting producer Ryota Niitsuma and associate producer Akihito Kadowaki, as well as an unnamed QA Tester. The second pack has you fighting…the computer again. This is where the problem begins.

ACRB Rates New Burnout Title

Electronic
Arts has been known for teasing fans of the
Burnout
franchise for some time, and now it seems that another game
could
be in the works at Criterion. In a database entry, The Australian
Classification Review Board, which is the country’s equivalent of
ESRB in the US, has rated a title dubbed “Burnout Crash” with its
origins being in the UK. The author and publisher are noted as EA but
the production company is “not shown.” The game is also listed as
a multi-platform release and is rated PG (Teen) for mild violence.
There is no information on a release date or summary of the title but
one can only speculate to either a mainstream or portable release to
be announced in the coming months. Other sources indicate that the
game is most likely to be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
