A Quick Look at Mortal Kombat Legacy

If that little short film didn’t peek your interest for the upcoming web series based on a reimagining of the MK fiction, then maybe this will. The portrayed characters are confirmed as Jaxx and Kano, who have had somewhat of a documented rivalry in the game story. While the video doesn’t reveal a great deal about the series, it’s clear that any supernatural elements regarding the fighting are gone, which is a good thing as that can only really be pulled off well in the video games. With MK9 only a couple of weeks away from release and MK: Legacy debuting on the 12th of April, this month seems to be the month for MK fans. I for one am extremely excited about both of these — it’s been a long time since Mortal Kombat made an impact and hopefully the combination of these two should do the trick. NBA Jam is On Fire This Year

EA Sports may not be delivering a roster update to NBA Jam on consoles, but they are planning a sequel. The publisher announced recently that they’re working on a new installment called NBA Jam: On Fire Edition.

The new Jam will include better AI, a co-op “Road Trip” mode, where you and a friend go up against legends and current stars from every NBA team, and some enhancements based on fan feedback. The other interesting part to this story is that it will be a downloadable release only on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

Jane Jensen is a respected name among fans of classic adventure games; she’s the woman who brought us the Gabriel Knight series back in the 90’s.  It has been over ten years since she made a new game, but she has finally brought her latest opus to the market.  The new project, Gray Matter is a terrific example of Adventure gaming, and will delight gamers looking for a good story.

iFest Indie Games Festival Set for Sunday

Indie Games are all the rage these days. From the hardcore technical platforming of Super Meat Boy to the chaotic magical shenanigans of Magicka. Modern indie games developers have brought numerous hit games to gamers and it always interesting to learn about how and why they make the unique games they do.  iFest is an independent games festival that is happening in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra this month. 

Weekend Sales April 7th

The digital Distributors are limping into a pathetic weekend, if today’s deals are any indications.  While the nice folks at Steam are still continuing the highly-recommended Potato Sack sale on indie games, their latest deal is no where near as impressive.  You can get Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition for $9.99, which is 75% off its usual price, a decent price with the caveat that you have to like watching elves play football.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Preview

I’m a big fan of the Warhammer 40,000 franchise so when I heard about W40k: Space Marine I was stoked to learn more. Developed by Relic Entertainment (who else), Space Marine takes place on an Imperial Forgeworld where a chapter of space marines, led by player-controlled Captain Titus, have been deployed to stop a rampaging Ork warboss from acquiring a relic Warlord Battle Titan, a powerful battle-walker held in storage. Other than periodic releases of screenshots, plot and gameplay details are in remarkably short supply.
