BioShock Infinite – Preview

I have a shameful confession.  I loved BioShock 2.  I also adored the first BioShock, but many fans of the first game didn’t care for the sequel, which was developed by a separate studio.  Some people think of the upcoming BioShock Infinite as the “True Sequel.”  Despite my affinity for Rapture and both games set in it, I am still as excited as anyone about Irrational Games’ next BioShock, even if Rapture is being left far below.

I Wanted To Like That Game: Ghostbusters: The Video Game

When I heard that a new Ghostbusters game was in development back in 2009, I wasn’t particularly interested. Then I heard that the game was being created with direct input from the cast and creators of the original films and I became very excited.  When the first reviews of the game came out, I became really excited and went out and got it. I remember eagerly waiting while Ghostbusters: The Video Game installed. Once that was done I played through the tutorial and enjoyed the way that Terminal Reality had transferred the Ghostbusters concepts into gaming elements in a clever and accurate way that provided interesting gameplay and appeased fans.

Twisted Metal Release Revealed

Playstation’s favourite psycho thrill-ride, Twisted Metal, will be making its debut on
the Playstation 3, called… well… Twisted
Metal
.  Last night, lead co-developer,
David Jaffe, announced via a video on the Playstation Blog that it will hit the
shelves later this year on October 4th, exclusively to the
Playstation 3.

Despite being one of Playstation’s oldest franchises, it
has been notably absent in recent years, with the last game in the series Twisted Metal Head-On, released in 2008,
and even that was only a port of the 2005 title of the same name, released for
the Playstation Portable.

Weekend Sales Friday April 8th

Well, it seems like the digital distributors decided that today is going to be shooter day, because just about all of them are trying to get you to buy some FPS game with a daily deal, or weekend sale.  The Electronic Arts Store is selling 18 shooters, and DLC packs for half off.  This is definitely something to check out if you haven’t grabbed all of DLC for Mass Effect, or your favorite Battlefield.  Of note is the Bad Company 2 Digital Deluxe Edition.  This includes the game and the Vietnam DLC at a higher price than buying them separately, but it does unlock many features.  Something to consider for n00bz just jumping into the game.  And if you never bothered buying the Pinnacle Station DLC for the first Mass Effect game, you might be tempted by it, now that it’s just three dollars.

Stacking: The Lost Hobo King DLC Review

DLC in games can range from a brilliant add on to something completely unneeded, which can even occasionally tarnish a bit of the original games reputation. If you don’t believe me, just ask Mass Effect or Assassins Creed 2. In most of those cases, the DLC is released mere months or even weeks after the original’s release which seemingly means the developer was crafting the DLC while also doing some work on the full game, and that’s one warning sign that the upcoming DLC will not be up to snuff with its full game brethren. Stacking, the glorious Xbox Live Arcade Game released back in early February, has received its first piece of DLC, titled The Lost Hobo King. Can The Lost Hobo King avoid all the previous demerits I mentioned about early DLC? Or will it be just another forgotten piece of content left for dead on the Xbox Live Marketplace?

Dynasty Warriors 7 (Xbox 360) Review

Another year means another Dynasty Warriors game.  I have to admit I was kind of excited to see this coming out.  I was hoping that the team at Koei would be able to put together a great Dynasty Warriors package since they have had time to craft their in-game engine to take full support of the Xbox 360.  Were my expectations too high or did Koei hit it out of the park?

The Dynasty Warriors 7 story takes place after the fall of the Han Dynasty where the Three Kingdoms are fighting against the Chinese Emperor.  This results in huge battles that span across countries in an attempt to overthrow the opposition.  The story gets confusing and is really hard to follow to a certain point.  If you are playing a Dynasty Warriors game, there is a good chance you are not playing it for the story.  You will probably end up skipping most of the little story to begin with.  The story seems to be just like another Dynasty Warriors game, so there is nothing new or interesting about it.
