Section 8: Prejudice Review

The original Section 8 was a unique and innovative science fiction first person shooter that set you as a member of the titular Section 8, a space military force of the future which drops in from orbit to protect mankind’s colonies across the galaxy. It recieved generally positive reviews but didn’t quite make the splash in multiplayer gaming that the developer TimeGate hoped it would.

Gears of War 3 Beta Wrap Up

Going by the numbers it is
obvious that people are ready for some more Gears and this coming Monday will
suck just that little bit more. Anyway, I’ve already gone over quite a lot
regarding the content of the beta, so now I’m going to deploy my flame shield
and list the main issues that have emerged over the past four weeks. These are

I WANTED To Like That Game: Dragon Age 2

Dragon Age 2 was expected to be a full-bodied successor to the very successful and critically acclaimedDragon Age: Origins, and while a good game on its own merits, it doesn’t live up to the long-standing legacy that Bioware has so carefully cultivated in its many quality titles. I wanted to like Dragon Age 2, but due to its fairly massive reordering of convention, reduced customization and options as well as the sneaky tricks used to artificially extend the length of the game, I was appalled by the tone-deaf approach with which the studio handled the game design. As a result of these changes, Dragon Age has become much more of an action title than Bioware RPGs of the past; I really thought this game should have been a console-only side-story game, much like how the Fallout series spawned abominable Brotherhood of Steel, another action game strained from the (then) corpse of the franchise. Instead, with only enough content to fill a third of what the developers promised, Dragon Age 2 was released as a complete sequel on all platforms.

for that matter, a gamer? Most people would say it is because someone plays
games, but how many or how frequently must you play in order to be labelled a
gamer? More importantly, why must somebody who plays games be labelled in the
first place? Does playing games somehow make you different from those who
don’t? That’s a lot of questions to open with, so allow me to make some
statements on the subject.

The Witcher Retro Review

The PC has always been a huge market for bizarre European RPG’s, and in 2008 CD Projekt Red entered the market with The Witcher, an epic story-based RPG adapted from a series of Polish fantasy novels.  It blasted its way into the PC gaming scene, gaining a large and loyal following of fans which CD Projekt Red are hoping to impress with The Witcher 2 when it comes out later this month.
