While the game’s name has been shortened to simply Hellgate, it will still be set in a post-apocalyptic demon-ravaged London and players can get a taste of it later this year with a short beta in early June.

Twisted Metal’s PS3 Rebirth

Twisted
Metal

made its debut at last year’s E3 convention, and now the game is
really starting to break free from the silence. The game’s developer, Eat
Sleep Play, is finally unveiling some details on the reincarnation of
the title on the PS3, and Creative Director David Jaffe has stated
that the team has been hard at work on the project. He claims that
the game, while still in its early pre-release stages, stays true to
the classics and is a fast and ferocious action driving game. The
game sports a brand new look with HD graphics yet still retains the
chaotic and hyper-violent feel of the originals. Of course, there
will be a slew of new features and improvements to the combat system
and other game mechanics, but nothing too altering or extreme.
Needless to say the new face of
Twisted
Metal

is an even crazier, over-the-top action game than its predecessors.

Learning from Portal 2: A Lesson in Co-op Gameplay

Co-op gameplay is certainly nothing new in the gaming world, however, it is very rare that it is executed as well as in Portal 2. Even taking aside what it did right, it smartly avoids several mistakes that other games do not. For me, one of these is actually supporting local coop which is getting very rare these days. Saving individual progress for the player while integrating that into a co-op session is also something that you don’t see a great deal of either. However, it isn’t these things that make the experience what it is, nor is it the superbly polished mechanics, it’s the way the game makes you feel while playing cooperatively that makes it stand out from everything else.

Weekend Deals End of the World Edition

The internet assures me that the world will end tomorrow, which means that we only have a few hours left to enjoy video games.  Sure, logic would tell us to go out and buy the most expensive games we can find, since Judgement Day is at hand, and we’ll be too busy roasting in Hellfire to worry about our credit card bills, but let’s just go out on a limb and assume that fiscal responsibility might still be important next week, so we’ll try to find some good games deals.  For starters, we have Direct2Drive.com’s Potato Sack- I mean “Indie Sack”.

I WANTED To Like That Game – Counter Strike: Source

I was first introduced to FPS games when I played Unreal Tournament. Before that I had been a big RTS player and had been completely oblivious to the world of first person shooters. I recently tried to go back and get into Counter Strike: Source (I had played it once before at a LAN cafe and got myself absolutely destroyed by ‘the regulars’) and found that I really didn’t like what some PC gamers call the best online FPS of all time.
