StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm Details Revealed

The first details of the second game in the StarCraft II trilogy have finally been released. StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm will continue the story that started in Wings of Liberty
and unlike the first game, you will take control of Sarah Kerrigan, The
Queen of Blades. While the first game’s single-player centered on the
Terran race, Heart of the Swarm will switch the focus to the Zerg and this will lead to a huge change in the style of gameplay for the game’s single-player.

Into The Pixel 2011: SCEA Artists Honored

2D and
3D artists usually work behind the scenes during a game’s
development, but they’re among the most important figures in the long
process of creating virtual worlds. It is up to talented conceptual
and traditional artists to visualize and produce a game’s
environments, characters and other entities before the actual
development begins. Without art as a base, it would be much more
difficult to design and develop today’s video games. Sony Computer
Entertainment of America (SCEA) is very fortunate to have many highly
skilled game artists among its dedicated developers. As a result, the
PlayStation 3 (and PSP) console benefit greatly from the highest
quality game franchises such as Ratchet & Clank, Killzone
and the Uncharted series. Along with others, these titles have
a very rich art department and it seems that, in addition to each
game’s success, their artists’ hard work is gaining some much
deserved recognition.

Metro Last Light Teaser Trailer

Metro 2033 was far, far from a perfect game. In fact, as far as pure gameplay goes, it wasn’t even a particularly good game. However, it set new standards for the level of detail and immersion that is found in shooters. There was a truly pain staking level of attention paid to absolutely every part of every environment and every item in the game. While by no means a hit critically or commercially, Metro 2033 certainly found a loyal following.

Apparently Everquest 2 Is Still A Thing

Remember back in 2004 when we all played games like Lineage, Final Fantasy XI and Diablo 2 on our dial up modems, and thought we were having fun? Yeah, well there was a game called Everquest 2 back then and, according to Sony’s press release, Everquest 2 still exists, and they’re still making stuff for it.

Hardboiled DLC for LA Noire

Detective Chuck “Knuckles” Battersby awoke face-down on the floor of his office.  A bottle of gin and a broken Xbox controller were next to him, lying motionless like a pair of cheap whores.  He’d passed out after two weeks trying to unlock every achievement in Rockstar Games’ LA Noire.  His hangover was the toll to pay for too many nights spent on the case instead of in bed where any smart fella would be at four am on a Monday.  But he’d done it.  Solved every case the scofflaws of virtual LA could throw at him, and handed a beatdown to every mug that had it comin’.  Finally he could turn off the Xbox and get some sleep.

What I’m Most Looking Forward To At This Year’s E3

Over the last few years,
since it was re-launched back to its full glory after a couple of more
restrained years, E3 has become the standout video game showcase for both
consumers and the gaming press. It’s the one true event of the year where you
can guarantee a blowout of info about virtually all the upcoming software and
hardware worth hearing about across the gaming board.

E3 (or Electronic Entertainment
Expo) first started in 1995. Back then Sony was showing off the original
PlayStation for the first time to excited western gamers. This year’s E3 should
be as good as ever for PlayStation fans with some great exclusives to drool
over. In this feature I
highlight (in no special order) some of the games and hardware that I will be
most looking forward to hearing more about during the show.
