The recent tactical strategy game Frozen Synapse has had quite a bit of success amongst fans of tactical strategy, but those same fans now have something else to be excited about. A new Jagged Alliance game! Jagged Alliance: Back In Action is a “Contemporary remake of the latest game in the series” but the website also says that it’s a remake of the original so exactly which Jagged Alliance game its a remake of is a bit unclear at this point.
Prototype 2 was unveiled at last year’s VGA awards but E3 is the first time gamers got their chance to see the game in action. While the Prototype had you playing as Alex Mercer, the sequel sets him up as the game’s villain and you play as Sgt. James Heller, a new character who blames Mercer for the deaths of his wife and child, and is set to take him down.
What has always
been a dry period for big triple A releases, the summer has become the best
chance for smaller games to get some real attention. There have been some truly
amazing games released on the Xbox Live arcade and it has quickly become one of
the best features of Xbox Live. This E3 has seen a lot of titles announced to
kick off their Summer of Arcade and they all look really impressive.
Like everyone, I’ve been watching insane amounts of E3 footage this
week, but one game in particular really stood out for me. While
Battlefield 3 looks amazing and I can’t wait to play titles like
Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3, and Gears of War 3 those games are pretty
obvious to be on most people’s radars. Instead, I am going to take this
opportunity to single out a game you may have ignored for one reason or
another. I’m quite passionate about gaming and nothing is cooler to me
than seeing new, interesting ideas and huge strides in design innovation
and the continuing evolution of the medium overall.
The same developers who brought us Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions bring Spidey and Spidey 2099 back for another go. In Spider-Man Edge of Time, the present day Spiderman must team up with his counterpart from the year 2099 to save the future, and to avert Spidey’s death in the present. Players will be able to control both Spider-Men over the course of the game.
Creative Director of ID software walks us through some more Rage gameplay and talks a little about the structure of the game. Taking an open world approach for shooters seems to be a popular trend at this year’s E3 and Rage will feature this element.
Human Head Studios revealed some pretty big changes for the Prey franchise today. In the sequel, you’re not playing as Tommy the hero from the first game, and there are no portals for starters. Tommy is still a part of the story but there was no information revealed about that.
