Rage Delayed to October

If you’re a fan of id’s Rage, you’ve been waiting for a really long time for it to be released, 7 years to be exact. This will be the first intellectual property of id to appear on consoles since 1996’s Quake, so there’s some understandable hype, anticipation, and excitement. However, id has delayed Rage from it’s original release date on September 13th, 2011 to October 4th, 2011.

Multiple Companies Targeted By Hackers

Is it just me, or did the Sony hacking fiasco encourage everyone else to hack a game company? Epic, Codemasters, and Nintendo have all been recently hacked for personal user data, and now Bethesda has been as well.  In Bethesda’s case, the page compromised was the Brink website. According to Bethesda, the only data that has been stolen is usernames, passwords, and email addresses. This must be pretty rough for PS3 Brink players, considering that they weren’t able to play online before, and now they may have their data accesssed.

Duke Nukem Forever: Will It Live Up To The Hype?

Duke Nukem Forever releases tomorrow, and the hype for it’s debut is understandably high. This is a game that was announced in 1997, and is being released now in 2011, 14 years later. It’s shifted companies, engines, and release dates with reckless abandon.  As a result, it can be hard to know what to expect from this high profile shooter.

Is Kinect Good for Hardcore?

This year at E3, the Microsoft Press Conferences chose to make Kinect their main focus. Now, like it or not, the Kinect is extending the life cycle of the Xbox 360. But at what cost? Microsoft has been pushing Kinect with a half a billion dollar campaign. That is a lot for a motion device, but has the Kinect proven itself to the hardcore yet?

Can The Vita Compete With Today’s Smartphones?

Sony’s
next-generation portable, now named the PlayStation Vita, is causing
quite the buzz among gamers and is already being
pre-ordered. The Vita is packed with cool new features and
capabilities and is sure to make the PSP obsolete, but how will it
stack up against today’s most popular smartphones, such as the Apple
iPhone and Samsung Galaxy? The PS Vita’s full specs have been
revealed, and Sony already announced that 3G models will be
available. The company has formed a
partnership with AT&T to be the mobile carrier for the device, but
it isn’t exactly a phone. Users will be able to connect to
mobile networks and use voice chat functionality, but the Vita will
not be a practical alternative to an actual smartphone. While this may come
as a disappointment for some, the device aims to be
more of a “portable entertainment center” where users
can connect and play together from anywhere.

Bloodrayne Rises From The Grave

Bloodrayne is among the video games that have been granted the honor of a film adaptation by Uwe Boll.  But don’t hold that against poor little vampiress Rayne, because her games are actually pretty good, unlike the movie adaptations.  While the film series has hopefully been put to its final rest, the game franchise will return this summer in a new format.

InFAMOUS 2 Review

Explosive”
and “unrelenting” are two words that immediately come to mind
when trying to describe Sucker Punch’s electric sequel to the 2009
smash hit
Infamous.
This year, Cole MacGrath returns in a follow up that is bigger, badder,
and far more intense than the original—and this time his enemies
are even deadlier. Retaining almost every gameplay element that made
up the first title,
Infamous
2
builds upon the same
formula and adds a lot of new flavor and style to the game. New
Marais, while it resembles Empire City, offers some new features of
its own and sports some interesting new design schemes. At first
glance
Infamous 2
, save for some subtle visual enhancements, looks almost exactly like
its predecessor
but has a unique atmosphere and a richer
blend of interesting and dynamic characters. The level of detail is
also noticeably improved and the visual effects are much more
impressive.
