Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 PC Review

Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012, the sequel to the 2009 downloadable game of the same name,
is a Magic: The Gathering-based game that allows players to play with pre-built
virtual decks in order to duel their friends and progress through three
campaigns, each more difficult than the last. The original game was met with
generally positive reception, despite getting plenty of complaints for the
complete lack of deck building. Does this sequel pan out to be a better
experience? Read on to find out.

LA Noire Coming To PC

It didn’t take much of a detective to see this coming; Take Two announced that LA Noire is getting a PC port.  Of course Rockstar’s big huge giant hit is going to be spread out to PC, Mac, Wii U, iPad and any place else they can cram their new IP.  But, so far, only the PC version has been officially confirmed.  The only real surprise is that it was announced before the inevitable PC version of Red Dead Redemption, which came out for consoles a full year earlier than LA Noire.

Team Fortress 2 Is Free-to-play

When Valve announced earlier this week that they had a free-to-play shooter in the works, the smart money was on Team Fortress 2 which had an existing micro-transaction service already in place.  Of course, Counterstrike Source might have been a good choice too, and Left 4 Dead Play 4 Free would have been much more fun market, but Valve’s virtual haberdashery game with guns turned out to the one.

Beyond Good and Evil on PSN, BioWare Emails and PS3 Firmware 3.66

Not much in the way of big news so here’s three smaller things you might want to know about. Beyond Good and Evil
has been given the HD treatment and was released on Xbox Live for well
over a month now but only just today was it stated the game would
finally be making its way to PSN on June 28th.  Originally slated for
May it has been delayed for unknown reasons. Whether this was a business
exclusivity deal or technical issues, no one knows.  All that matters
is this cult smash hit will be playable by PlayStation-only people now
and this is a good thing.  I remember thoroughly enjoying BG&E
for its relatively unique mix of mechanics and interesting story and
cast of characters back in the PS2 days, and yes like all the other crazy
gamers I’m still waiting for those gosh darn Ubisoft people to stop
obsessing about Italians who like to poke things and give us more sweet
sweet Jade and Pey’j action in awesome modern form.
