Popcap to be Acquired for $1 Billion

Lately, several casual gaming companies have been acquired by larger corporations. Playfish, Playdom, and Ngmoco are just a few examples of casual gaming companies that have been bought for, in some cases, hundreds of millions of dollars. So it comes as little surprise that the incredibly popular Bejeweled developer Popcap may be next in line for purchase.

Winners of the 2011 E3 Game Critics Awards

I don’t know about you, but personally I felt a bit more distant from
the whole E3 hoopla this year than I have in years past. Still, lots of
interesting games were shown, and some of them were interesting enough
to pick up a handful of awards from critics at various recognizable
American game publications. Bioshock: Infinite was the big winner this time, picking up all four awards it was nominated for, including Best of Show.

Infested Planet: Hands On Preview


Indie games these days come in all shapes and sizes. Infested Planet is a new one that looks to combine squad-based strategy gameplay with a very cool, dynamic AI. The game sets you as the commander of a crack military team who must clear out a terrifying alien infestation.  Sure the story isn’t exactly the most original, but Infested Planet isn’t trying to tell a science fiction epic, it’s trying to give gamers a fun strategy experience with some unique twists.  We got to play around with the beta to see exactly how close they come to their goal.
