Ubisoft Wants Next-Gen Now

Ubisoft’s Yves
Jacquier has spoken outwardly towards the current elongated console cycle; his
studio now feels limited by the PS3 and 360.
As
Executive Producer at Ubisoft, he and his company are ready for the next
console generation now. While it is obvious they aren’t so limited they
can’t release games, given Assassins Creed Revelations releases in November,
it’s definitely true that the hardware from 2005 is starting to show its age to
more than just the super high-end developers.

Planetside 2 Reveal Coming Soon

A mysterious omen appears! Planetside 2, formerly known as Planetside Next, has been hinted at by Sony Online Entertainment’s CEO, John Smedley and a few other folks in the loop for quite some time now. It appears that something offical has finally emerged from all of the promises and waiting. Planetside2.com, formerly a joke/spoof website created by some fans, was updated September of last year to redirect to the original Planetside’s website, being taken as a hint to many that SOE did indeed plan to create the game. Now, nearly a year later, after a cryptic Facebook post asking fans to “Enlist” by liking the page, Planetside2.com now features a countdown, backdropped by Planetside 2’s alleged logo. Spooky.

‘Dungeon Defenders’ Set to Fuse Tower Defense and ARPG Gameplay

When
the Unreal Development Kit first was released it gave indie developers
access to the power of the Unreal Engine and opened the way for tons of
indie game developers looking to make the next big thing. One of the
first games to come out of the UDK was Dungeon Defenders, a
small but cool indie game that fused tower defense and action RPG
gameplay to give gamers something really fun. Since then, the small free
version of Dungeon Defenders is being expanded into a fully
fledged digital release by the game’s developer Trendy Entertainment and
has already been released on iOS and the Android App Store, but is
coming to XBLA, PSN and PC in the near future.

Cryptic Screenshots Herald Bizarre New Game

Polish developer Flying Wild Hog is teasing a new shooter, exclusive to PC, that appears to have… Robots! And the future. And… Well, there isn’t a lot to go on. But so far, the concept art featured on their site looks amazing. While this isn’t exactly an announcement of definite things to come, the released teaser screenshot looks great, and seems to hint at a little open world cyber punk style gameplay, or at least a world that is thematically matched to that sort of thing.

New Resistance 3 Bundle and PSN Pass Uncovered

According to information released by
German video game forum Konsolentreff, there is set to be yet
another Resistance 3 released. The game will be packaged with a 320GB
PS3 Slim with no price mentioned. It is expected that this bundle
will be released with the game this September and it joins the two
other Resistance 3 bundles announced by Sony at E3. With Resistance
being one of Sony’s biggest exclusive games this holiday season, it comes with
no surprise that it is getting the huge push that it is. Personally I
would have preferred to see an Uncharted 3 bundle as it is more
likely to move more units and attract new consumers. Don’t get me
wrong, I think Resistance is a fine series, but if I really wanted to
increase console sales, Uncharted 3 seems like the more enticing game
to present.
