Valve Updates Steam, Teases DOTA 2

A large
question in the video game industry right now is whether digital or
retail purchases are better. While purchasing a game from the comfort of
your preferred gaming machine is nice, the download times compared to
retail disc install times are not. Valve is hoping to help that problem
by upgrading Steam’s backend code, and improving the overall download
speeds for the platform. You can read the technical details of it here, but the quick summary is: faster download speeds for videos, faster download speeds for games.

Activision Files Complaint Against Fake Modern Warfare Wesbite

Two of the biggest first person shooters of 2011, Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3, are coming out in the Fall. This creates some natural competition between them, but one supporter of Battlefield 3 has gone farther with his loyalty and created an anti Modern Warfare 3 website under the domain name ModernWarfare3.com. L.A. Noire: Reefer Madness Review

“Reefer Madness” is the second L.A. Noire DLC that Rockstar has put out. Unlike the “Nicholson Electroplating”
case, this one is not based on real world events. “Reefer Madness”
takes on the biggest drug problem in 1940’s Los Angeles: marijuana
. “Reefer Madness” is for the Vice
desk and will set you back $3.99. But is it worth it?

Like previous L.A. Noire DLC, the story for “Reefer Madness” is a diversion from the pain plot. The plot centers around a marijuana
ring in L.A. and your job is to shut it down. Normally I would be
excited about the case but it just doesn’t pack enough in there for me
to enjoy. The first thing you do is get your normal mission brief like
in all the cases and go to see a snitch who rats out the
marijuana ring. Then it just becomes more L.A. Noire. When I first played L.A .Noire,
it was new and had me asking for more to experience. Here you’re just
chasing bad guys who are obsessed with silver dollars. This case really
does drop the ball in terms of storytelling that we came to enjoy in L.A. Noire.

PS4: The Tech to Expect

With
rumors and speculation about the existence and release of a
PlayStation 4 spreading wildly throughout the internet, it is
probably best now to look at some of the more reasonable arguments
with regards to the actual tech that might be contained in Sony’s next
console. Regardless if the PS4 comes out next year or in three years, it
is undeniable that it will be a considerable step ahead of the
current PS3 in terms of power. Knowing just how much more powerful it
could potentially be requires having some idea of the power behind the current PS3.
