Microsoft Speed Wheel

On your marks get set and go. Calling all fans of racing games, Xbox 360 has a new surprise for you. On July 22nd Microsoft confirmed that they have a wireless speed wheel in the works. The price of the wheel will only be around $45, a lot cheaper than what we would expect. The thing about this wireless wheel is its relationship to Kinect. Would it make sense for you to go out and buy a wireless wheel when Kinect should allow you to steer with just your hands? It appears Microsoft has gone the same route as Nintendo, releasing a wheel peripheral that should (in theory) be unnecessary along with an anticipated racing game.

Game Play Theater Festival: Brain Explode – Review

Open Mailbox.  Get Rope.  Examine Sword. If that sound familiar, you must be a fan of text adventure games.  These were all the rage in the 80’s, back when computers didn’t have the processing power for “Graphics”, but rather used words to tell their story, with players typing in simple phrases instead of using a controller.  Text gaming eventually fell out of fashion once computers that could display moving images became more common, but there’s still a small, loyal group of programmers and players who enjoy this sort of gaming, and it seems that playwrights Richard Lovejoy, Danny Bowes and Stephen Aubrey are among them, because they have created an interactive theatre experience called Brain Explode which mimics the gameplay of text adventures.

Suda 51’s Next Game: Lollipop Chainsaw

I’m already excited to play Suda 51’s
next game and it may never even release outside of Japan, but boy do I want it to.
In the latest issue of the Japanese magazine Famitsu, Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture,
creators of No More Heroes and the recent Shadows of the Damned, have revealed
their next game and it stars a cheerleader with a super powered chainsaw
carving up zombies in between shooting laser hearts while she wears a severed
(and somehow still alive) head on her belt. The game is titled Lollipop Chainsaw and stars Juliet,
this kick-ass looking girl who happens to be from a long line of zombie hunters:

Team Ico Collection Dated and Will Include Bonus Content

I
am all set to get my hands on the Team Ico collection. It is slated for
non-Japan regions and it’s coming with some nice extras.
The official date of release is September 27, 2011 for the United States
and the month of September for other countries. A bonus disc, that
includes extra feature videos, comes with all of the collection copies.
The disc contains videos about the studios’ work, and a preview of their
next big PS3 title: The Last Guardian. Sony has
been sketchy on the exact details of the disc, but from the sounds of it, we
should expect a mix of things like interviews, a studio tour and perhaps some
making-of behind the scenes stuff. There will also be
two dynamic themes included: one for Ico, and one for Shadow of the Colossus.

The Top five Cliffhangers of All Time

The definition for Cliffhanger is an adventure that ends in suspense in order to interest the reader or viewer in the next installment. This has been the case for many games that have left us hanging on the edge.  It’s not rare for a game to have a cliffhanger at the end because it helps build momentum for the second or third installment. There are some games that have the potential for future sequels but never pan out because it didn’t sell well or had bad reviews.
