As far as games based on an established IP, the Lord of The Rings games have been pretty good. The last one, Conquest wasn’t all that spectacular but the Battle For Middle Earth series as well as Lord of the Rings Online have offered tons of great gameplay to fans of the venerable fantasy series.
Visually stunning from the very beginning, El Shaddai, scheduled for August 16 release, is a game that appears to have innovation and imagination. From the moment you start the game, the vibrant colors and unique design immediately grabs your attention.
A ton of Diablo 3 news came out this week, some of it good, some of it bad, but all of it important to read for anyone looking at getting the long awaited third game in the legendary action RPG series by Blizzard Entertainment.
Developed by Atlus, Catherine has made the jump to the U.S markets from Japan where it was known as キャサリン Kyasarin. What we got here is a treat for both fans of anime and for those who are looking for something different, because this is something you never played before.
Sony has plenty of development teams under their direct control, including the studios behind such mainstays as God of War and Gran Turismo.
But many of their best franchises, especially since the PS2 days, have
been made by independent companies they partner with like Naughty Dog,
Insomniac, and Sucker Punch Productions.
Can real games please start coming out again soon? The downloadable
stuff is usually pretty okay looking, but week after week of looking at
either a single decent-looking new game or a handful of bad ones is
becoming pretty soul-crushing. I don’t know how much longer I can take
it.
The
fast spread of free-to-play gaming continues, as yet another existing
game turns into a free-to-play title. This time, it is the multiplayer
role-playing action game, Heroes of Newerth from S2 Games.
Due to the change of business model, Heroes of Newerth will feature two different types of profiles. One profile type will be the Legacy account, the accounts of those who purchased Heroes of Newerth
before it went free-to-play. These players will have free access to
every single hero in the game, as well as all of the “Verified Only”
games which separate the older players from the new rookies. The new
players will be using Basic accounts, which will be upgraded to Verified
accounts when they have purchased some virtual in-game currency (Goblin
coins), or played for a certain amount of time.
