Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet – Review

Some gameplay mechanics stick around generation after generation.  They work so well that the only trick is adapting them to new technology and finding new design aesthetics to go with them.  The “Metroidvania” style of game design is one of these, and the Xbox Live Arcade game Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet has found a clever new way to use this kind of gaming.

Resistance 3 Gone Gold, Includes Extras

A lot of modern games tend to come with extras now, but Sony
seems to have gone a little nuts with Resistance 3 now that it’s gone gold.
While all these extras are technically just marketing material, if I were a new
PlayStation 3 owner it would be pretty cool nonetheless.  The bonus
content that comes on all Resistance 3 discs includes game demos for
Killzone 3, MotorStorm Apocalypse and Infamous 3, as well as a slew of trailers
for upcoming games such as Uncharted 3. But where it gets a little odd is the
inclusion of various trailers for Sony films and music clips featuring artists
such as Ozzy Ozborne – what?

Full Vita Details at Tokyo Game Show

At this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Sony plans on revealing the
full details of the PlayStation Vita.
While the price and core features were mentioned and demoed in limited form at
this year’s E3, at TGS this year we will get to see what the handheld is truly
capable of and hopefully get some more info on the line-up of launch
titles.  I’m personally already fine with the price and the absurd amount
of features are some good selling points but I would certainly like to know how
exactly a lot of them will be used by games, and more importantly what those
initial games will be.

Bastion – Review

Bastion is a very deceptive game. A casual look at screenshots won’t do the product justice.  Even seeing video won’t fully demonstrate its most unique properties.  Yes, the art is pretty, and hand-drawn to boot, but what makes it special is the way that all of those art assets come together on the fly as your characters moves, literally constructing the world around you while a narrator tells your story as you go, offering more of a spontaneous play-by-play than a linear narrative.

2K announced today NBA 2K12’s new game mode, NBA’s Greatest, which
allows players to play as some of the best basketball players the world
has ever seen. Similiar to NBA 2k11 Jordan’s mode, instead of focusing
on one player, NBA Greatest alows fans to play 15 historic games that
showcase some of
the sport’s best.
