It’s quite a surprise that the Dead Island trailer took the internet by storm in the way it did. The game being developed by Techland has been relatively unknown since it was first announced in 2008 and I don’t even think Techland expected their debut trailer to be as successful as it was.
With the release of the quirky, Biblical El Shaddai: Ascent of the Metatron on the horizon, here at Player Affinity we felt the time was right to point out a few other video games based on biblical characters and themes. Regardless of your religious persuasion, it’s hard to deny that the Bible has some very powerful stories- the Beast of Revelations, Adam and Eve, Sodom and Gomorrah and the eternal struggle between Heaven and Hell, to name just a few.
Some of the best games of the last console generation are getting HD remakes, like the original Halo and Resident Evil 4. Of course I would also be perfectly happy to throw the non-HD version ofResident Evil 4 in my Gamecube and take it for a spin without any need for updates. These games will probably be even better with the HD updates, but they were great the way they were too. But there are some games released around the same time that failed miserably because they arrived a generation too early. Instead of focusing on revamping just the old hits, the game industry should consider some of the well-intended flops from the last generation. One such game that springs to mind is Resident Evil Outbreak.
So, if you bought Duke Nukem Forever…well, we’re sorry. I think everyone wanted the game to be good for nestalgia sake, but we have to frankly say the game sucked. However, that didn’t stop Take-Two from being happy about the game
There are some great sales going around the internet right now, with one online store is in the second week of their big Summer Sale, and several one-day-only deals on hot indie games.
As if there wasn’t enough buzz around the
upcoming release of Deus Ex: Human
Revolution, Eidos Montreal have released another trailer which firmly
emphasises the multi-layered approach to the game that players will be
encouraged to take.
The trailer (which can be seen below,
courtesy of Youtube) emphasises that there are four pillars of gameplay;
combat, stealth, hacking and social.
Most situations in the game can be resolved using one of those pillars,
and you’re not restricted in your choice; you can sneak past a big mechanical
enemy, you can run in all guns blazing, or you can get to a nearby control
console and hack into that, turning the robot against the other enemies.
An absolute ton of details have come out regarding the recently announced Borderlands 2 in the last few days. One of the biggest things that will seperate Borderlands 2 from the original is that you will take control of one of four all new playable characters in game. While Gearbox aren’t completely abandoning the old playable characters (They will be appearing in the game as NPCs) they are already placing a big focus on the new characters, the first of which is Salvador the Gunzerker (I can only assume this is an fusion of the Berserker and Soldier classes from the first game) who has the confirmed ability to dual wield any two weapons.
