Gamescon Mass Effect 3: Squad Leader

Bioware
showed off their latest demo of Mass Effect 3 at Gamescon this week.
The trailer, which is titled “Squad Leader,” shows off the squad
commands and some of the new combat tweaks that have been introduced to
the game.  Shepard can now perform a combat roll to maneuver quickly
between points of cover and has a new omni-blade melee attack to
effectively dispatch his opponents at close range.

Blizzard Wants Diablo 3 on Consoles

In a revelation neither new nor shocking, Blizzard – although not officially announcing – is very determined to bring Diablo 3 to console platforms.

It will be amazing if the game releases for PC this year. I predict an early 2012 release, however, perhaps between April and June. It’s nice to know that people who prefer gaming on a console will someday get a chance to experience this undoubtedly amazing looking game from the biggest maker of PC titles.

Blizzard “Very, very serious” About Bringing Diablo III to Consoles

During Blizzard’s Gamescom press conference Josh Mosqueira said that Blizzard “Is very, very serious” about bringing the Diablo III experience to the console. “We’re looking for programmers, designers, artists who think their dream job would be to bring Diablo to the console. Trust me, it is a dream job,” Mosqueria said. He didn’t confirm that Diablo III will be coming to consoles, but earlier in the year, Blizzard was looking to hire a Lead Designer, Lead Programmer and a Senior Producer for a “Diablo-related concept for consoles.”

Sony Announces New PSP… Wait, What?

Gamescom
has had some very exciting announcements this year.  Sony brought their
PlayStation Vitas with them and showed off a lot of the titles in
development.  Games like Resistance: Burning Skies, Little Big Planet and Escape Plan
were available, hands-on, to the press.  A lot of the previews are very
positive, but I know what you’re thinking: “Sure the Vita news is great
and Uncharted looks amazing, but what about the PSP?”  Am I
right?  Well hot on the heels of all the new PlayStation Vita games and
the confirmation that RAM will not be cut, Sony announced a new PSP
model is on its way.

Deus Ex Earnings: Will Square Enix Make a Comeback?

According to Eurogamer and the Square
Enix earnings reports, Square Enix has had a dreadfully bad year so
far, partly due to the problems with one of their entries in their
trademark “Final Fantasy” franchise, Final Fantasy XIV.

Now, many things could be said about
the “Final Fantasy” franchise at this point, or comments made about
Square Enix’s attempts to enter the MMO market. But what remains at
the end of the day is that Square Enix, even with their AAA titles of
“Kingdom Hearts” and “Final Fantasy,” is doing poorly this year.

Razer Tiamat – Best of Breed?

Last week, I reviewed the Razer Megalodon USB headset. However, Razer’s newest headset, the analog Tiamat 7.1, looks to blow it out of the water. In its press release,
and in the announced information for the Tiamat 7.1, Razer proudly
announces that this headset features a total of 10 drivers for true
surround sound in the headset: subwoofer, front, side, rear – all of
these with 2 drivers at each position. But more exciting than the
drivers is the fact that the Tiamat will allow for customizing each
audio channel to one’s exact liking using the included control unit
(which looks slightly similar in form factor to the control unit of the
Razer Megalodon). This looks to be great for a number of applications
imagine playing a movie in 7.1 surround sound with this headset, or even things as simple as listening to podcasts.

New Screenshots for Zombie Apocalypse 2: Never Die Alone

They just don’t make apocalypses like they used to.  In my day, when zombies annihilated civilization, it STAYED annihilated!  Now-a-days, it seems that zombies have to re-annihilate things every couple of years, which must be behind Konami’s sequel to the 2009 twin-stick shooter Zombie Apocalypse.
