If you were hoping to “Cross Lightsabers” in Star Wars: The Old Republic, you’ll be sad to hear that same-sex romantic subplots with NPCs are not going to be an option at launch. This is a surprise, considering that Bioware’s last game, Dragon Age 2, surrounded the player with a gang of priapic bisexuals.
It looks like the Wild West isn’t so wild anymore. Rockstar Games has released a new patch (available now) filled with fixes for common exploits used in their critically acclaimed Western, Red Dead Redemption. This is all being done in anticipation of the upcoming Myths and Mavericks bonus pack, which is scheduled to release today.

A remake of the old isometric Syndicate strategy games has been rumored for years and finally some real details and screenshots have emerged of the game, which is being developed by Starbreeze. While many gamers were expecting this new Syndicate game to be somewhat similiar to the original, to a lot of people’s surprise (and anger) it was revealed that, like the new X-COM game, the new Syndicate will be a first person shooter.
Sony Online Entertainment has dabbled a bit in the free-to-play business model before, with the microtransaction model forEverquest 2 last August. Apparently, it worked quite well, since SOE has transferred the business model to the upcoming MMO, Planetside 2.
