“Horde Command Pack” DLC Announced for Gears of War 3

Gears of War 3 has certainly hit the ground running, selling more than three million copies in its first week on the shelves.  With that in mind, it’s unsurprising that Epic Games have announced the first piece of downloadable content for the game to be released on November 1st, to keep that momentum going.

NBA 2K12 Review

Let me get this out of the way so you won’t dismiss this review as ignorant gushing. NBA 2K11 was the best sports game of all time. Period. End of story. With the classic teams ranging from the Seattle Sonics to the rugged Detroit Pistons, it was a real treat for both new and old NBA fans a like. Then they threw in the improved graphics engine and the few core gameplay tweaks that helped refine the experience. I honestly thought NBA 2K12 had no chance to match what NBA 2K11 accomplished, but I was wrong. Once again, 2k Sports puts out another solid addition that is better than its predecessor.

One of the things that fans of the series are going to notice right away is that the gameplay is now at a fluid, organic pace. In previous versions, player movements were often seamless, but were sometimes buckled by awkward animations. It could ruin the experience and make you realize that you were playing a game. Now, the player movements are seamless and the animations have never been better. All the animations in NBA 2K12 have all been tuned to look identical to the person on court.

Serious Sam 3: BFE Delayed

Starting as a mod in the Serious Sam community, Serious Sam 3: BFE (Before First Encounter) has quickly gained a lot of attention, both for being a sequel in a generally well-received series, and an old-school shooter which spits in the face of cover and regenerating health. Unfortunately for Serious Sam fans and old school shooter gamers alike, Croteam has announced that Serious Sam 3: BFE has been delayed once more, this time until November 22nd.

Resident Evil: Code: Veronica X HD Review

Sometimes, a game is a classic despite glaring problems.  Sometimes, a game is a  classic because of those same glaring problems.  Sometimes, gamers fall in  love with a gameplay element that is very “of the moment” and really  only exists because of a technical hurdle.  Sometimes, gamers look past  an unwieldy control scheme and awful acting to enjoy the tense  atmosphere and startling scares.  The first Resident Evil was all of these things. Resident Evil: Code: Veronica more or less continued that tradition ad nauseum, and the HD release of Resident Evil: Code: Veronica X brings it all back.

Yearly Sequels: Are We Getting Sick of Assassin’s Creed?

In the middle of November we will be getting the third yearly entry in the Assassin’s Creed series since the second game.

Like most people, I was very skeptical ifBrotherhood was going to be good, but then it turned out to be quite awesome and I began to wonder: Can Revelations do it again so soon?   Brotherhood certainly didn’t feel like a full sequel to Assassins Creed 2. It was more like a really well made expansion pack, similar to those made by  many PC developers.
