After an extremely long development period Gran Turismo 5 launched at
the end of 2010. Although GT5 was underwhelming to say the least,
Polyphony Digital has not given up on it, in fact they have been
providing steady updates to improve and refine the game. The continued
support is encouraging but it has not been enough. Almost a year has
passed since the game’s launch and details of DLC and a significant
update have only just recently surfaced.
Game developers Twisted
Pixel, the team behind the acclaimed ‘Splosion Man on Xbox Live Arcade
and The
Gunstringer on Kinect for Xbox 360 have been acquired by Microsoft
Studios, a move that will allow them to ‘incubate new game and entertainment
experiences’ under the Microsoft umbrella.
Blizzard Entertainment announced
that the multiplayer ladders for StarCraft 2 are locked in preparation
for Season
4 of the popular eSports game. This does not mean that you can
no longer log into your Battle.net account and play multiplayer matches
on the
ladder. You can still take full advantage of Blizzard’s matchmaking
system to
find players around your own skill level. What this does mean is that
you can
no longer move between leagues or divisions in the current Season 3
ladder.
Those of you looking forward to
sinking many hours into the latest instalment of the Diablo franchise
have one
more thing to be happy about. Just like with earlier releases such as
StarCraft
2 and World of Warcraft expansion Cataclysm, you will be able to
purchase a
collector’s edition of Diablo 3. Game releases must pass through
regulatory bodies for approval, and the British Board of Film
Classification
(or BBFC) has announced that a collector’s edition of Diablo 3 has
passed
through their process with no cuts to content required.
It’s only 9 days until the release of Batman:
Arkham City, the sequel to the record-breaking Arkham Asylum which
gathered a host of accolades as the highest-scoring superhero game ever
created, and to whet our appetites even further, the publishers of the game
have announced some DLC for the title already.
Red-headed nerd vixen Felicia dons a set of elf ears and a leather corset for her new webseries Dragon Age Redemption which begins today. Redemption is a live-action series set in the Dragon Age universe, and Day plays a tough elvish assasin named Tallis hired by the Qunari to track down an apostate mage.
Fans of the Tribes series will get the chance to play the next game in the series when the closed beta for Tribes: Ascend starts on November 4th.
The highly anticipated multiplayer shooter Tribes: Ascend is being developed by HiRez Studios. Fans of the game are very eager to get their hands on it and find out whether it lives up to the series’ as yet unmatched legacy. You can sign up for the closed beta via the official website here. HiRez has said that they will also be giving out beta keys via their Facebook and Twitter pages and that gamers who preorder will also gain access to the beta, as well as some other in-game bonuses that have yet to be detailed.
