Nearly six years after its launch in 2005, Microsoft has announced that they have sold over 57 million Xbox 360 units worldwide. Despite these impressive numbers, the Xbox 360 still lags far behind the Nintendo Wii, which has sold 87 million. The 360 still holds a lead over the Playstation 3 with its 51 million sales worldwide.
With each year, games are getting easier and easier. Becoming far less realistic and catering to the scrubs of the gaming world. It’s not our fault that they can’t manage to get a simple headshot but is their fault that games like Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are becoming more like rollercoasters and less like the authentic military experiences that they are meant to be. This forces real gamers to look further and harder for real military games.
It may come as a surprise to you that Batman: Arkham City is talked about this week, as well as Crysis and a little more on Rage. Battlefield 3 got yet another multiplayer trailer, showing, well… more Battlefield 3 multiplayer footage. In other news, Harrison Ford is in a commercial for Uncharted 3 for a reason that I’m sure made enough sense and Rocket Birds Hardboiled Chicken is coming to the Playstation Network. Which you should buy purely because of its name.
The Vita has a release date for the US, that being February 2nd 2012, Resistance 3 didn’t sell well and bizarrely enough Capcom announced an HD collection of the original three Devil May Cry games, because we all know that Devil May Cry went straight to 3 after the first. DMC2 neverhappened for whatever reason. Nowadays, many who consider themselves hardcore FPS fans cut their teeth on games like Battlefield 1942 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. These young pups who consider themselves “hardcore” should step aside for the multiplayer shooter that the real pros learned the ropes on: Counter-Strike and its successor, Counter-Strike: Source.
There are literally hundreds of tower defense games available for PC gamers but Dungeon Defendersaims to make itself standout with a fresh new gameplay formula that combines both elements of hack and slash RPGs, MMOs and tower defense games to give gamers something they haven’t played before.
Valve has announced their plans for a second Portal 2
DLC release. This time Valve is working on a level editor that will
allow players to design and build their own test chambers. Creators
will then be able to share their levels with other gamers. The DLC will
also support the ability for players to provide feedback via reviews of
levels.
According to the press release provided by Joystiq, Valve stated the level editor will allow the design of both single player and co-operative maps and is intended to be very user friendly. At this time, the DLC is confirmed for PC only, but it may later show up on the PS3 and 360. Since the PS3 actually has Steam and the cross platform functionality, it seems to me a no brainer that this DLC pack will end up there, but that is only speculation at this time.
Why play Battlefield 3 when you can play Halo Reach? Why kill innocent human beings who happen to be shooting back at you when you can teabag kill bloodthirsty and ruthless aliens and save the planet…all while looking badass…IN THE FUTURE!
