What is Best In Skyrim? – PC Review

What is best in life?  Ask a thousand barbarians and you’ll get a thousand different answers.  “Crush your enemies and see them driven before you”.  Yes, that is best in life.  “The open steppe, a fleet horse, and the wind in your hair”.  Yes, that is best in life too. “A comfortable chair, a roaring fire, and a book filled with tales other men’s adventures”.  That is also best in life.  What is best in life is to pursue whatever you desire at any moment, and Skyrim lets players do just that.

Gift Buyers Guide: Classic XBLA Games

There are now over four hundred XBLA games available for download, and with such a variety of downloadable games to choose from, it’s best to think carefully and check what’s best for your cash before you splash out those Microsoft points. As well as XBLA exclusives, some of the best titles available from the marketplace are re-releases of older games, allowing gamers to replay past classics or to hit up a masterpiece they never got the chance to play.

Let’s start with one of the best of those classics: Perfect Dark. Originally released on the N64, Perfect Darkfeatures secret agent Joanna Dark, thrown in the middle of a war between two different races of alien. As well as a very lengthy campaign, Perfect Dark boasts a brilliant multiplayer mode, a “combat simulator” which sees you completing a variety of different tasks in beautiful gameplay, similar to Rare’s previous FPS, Goldeneye. For the bargain price of just 800 points, Perfect Dark is one of the great pioneers in the world of FPS, and a must-have for anyone who’s an avid player of the shooters that are around now.

Modern Warfare 3 Outsells Ni No Kuni in Japan

A recent tweet that led to an article by Game Informer had me a bit baffled, as the numbers have come out and Modern Warfare 3 sold nearly triple the copies in Japan than the hotly anticipated Studio Ghibli and Level 5 title Ni No Kuni.  The reason that this news shocked me so much is that, while I knew that the Modern Warfare series was highly successful in North America and Europe, I did not think that its global sales would be as significant.  Now, I know that the sales numbers from Japan are nowhere near the multiple millions of copies sold in the US and Europe, but the fact that it can outsell a game like Ni No Kuni is a bit surprising.

While the US has not received a solid release date for the PS3 version of the game, the “Early 2012” window that has been thrown out may put it right in the release window of many other big titles such as Max Payne 3, Jak and Daxter HD Collection, and Mass Effect 3, but will it be able to separate itself from those titles and still sell well in the US, or will it fall by the wayside to the giants that will be right around the corner?

Xbox 720 Will Have Two Models

Xbox 360 owners are familiar with the two different SKUs available for the console, with the only major difference between them is the hard drive size. However, if the rumor mills are correct, the Xbox Next will also have two different SKUs, but each will have considerably different options. There will be two different models of the next Xbox: a stripped-down version for the entry-level market, and the other will deliver “true hardcore gaming.”

Rumor: People Can Fly Making Gears of War Prequels

People Can Fly, the Polish developer behind the Painkiller games and the recent Bulletstorm, is rumored to be working on a prequel trilogy to Gears of War, according to the latest Official Xbox Magazine. It wouldn’t be the first time the developer got their hands on a Gears of War title, as they developed the PC port of the original game.

Bulletstorm failed to set the chart alight, and Epic’s President Mike Capps admitted that the game did not make money for them. Epic Games owns a majority stock of the development house, so it makes sense that they would put them on the series after the commercial failure of Bulletstorm, especially now that the main trilogy is done with.
