Xbox 360 Misses Out On Street Fighter X Tekken Exclusives

Fighting game fans are more than likely already aware that the PS3 and the PSVita will be receiving 3 extra characters for Street Fighter X Tekken, Toro and Kuro, the Sony Playstation mascots and, of course, Cole McGrath from the infamous… uh, Infamous series.  However, just like what happened with Mortal Kombat in 2011, it appears that the Xbox 360 version of the game will not be receiving any exclusives.  According to Yoshinori Ono at Capcom, they were pushing for Xbox 360 exclusive characters.

Dear Esther – Interactive Art Or Innovative Game?

You’re going to hear a lot about Dear Esther this year, if you haven’t heard of it already. You will probably hear about it as the object of scrutiny in a renewed debate about what makes something a piece of interactive art rather than simply a video game. Although I cannot solely decide what makes something art, what I can say is that this game is beautifully created, and perfectly remade.

Xbox 360 The Witcher 2 Not A Port

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is a game that takes pride in itself, a trait oddly foreign in this market, but being a dark deconstruction of the usual medieval fantasy tropes may be riding that very sensitive line between extremely nerdy and tragically beautiful.  It was an ambitious thing. This is probably why developer CD Projekt is taking pride in the upcoming Xbox 360 port of the game. Of course, don’t let them hear you calling it a port.

Mass Effect 3 Will Include Kinect Controls

The much anticipated Mass Effect 3 will conclude Commander Shepard’s trilogy with the addition of Kinect compatibility. Players will be able to issue all squad commands with voice controls, eliminating the need for the “wheel.” Game developers have stated however that these controls will NOT be applicable to Mass Effect 3’s new multiplayer mode. In order to give orders to your squad, all you’ll have to do is say their name, followed by a command. You can find a list of commands below, but it might be more fun to try and figure them out on your own if you’re into that kind of thing. The list is quite extensive, and it could potentially enhance the gameplay experience by essentially eliminating the Power Wheel.

Rumor: Microsoft Ditching “Microsoft Points”

A recent report from Inside Mobile Apps has spawned a rumor that Microsoft’s method of converting real currency into virtual currency may be going extinct by the end of 2012. Microsoft points may soon be a thing of the past, and this news is likely welcome to those of us who have to do actual math to figure out how many points we need to buy to purchase digital content. The rumor comes by way of a statement regarding purchasing content on Windows phones, which, considering the current level of connectivity between Microsoft’s phones and consoles, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if this rumor was confirmed sooner rather than later.

Digital High Episode 24

Despite what you may have heard, there is not a new Resident Evil movie coming out this year, I mean surely they can’t keep making those dreadful movies, right… RIGHT?! Speaking of Resident Evil though, Resident Evil 6 was totally announced last week with a release date and trailer and everything! Just got to wait now for the inevitable delay where it gets moved to March of 2013 but going by that trailer, the series is yet again heading in a new direction. In other news, there has been a ton of DLC announced for Modern Warfare 3 over the next 9 months, which includes expansions for the Spec Ops mode and the Mass Effect 3 beta will launch mid-February for all your Battlefield 3 players, and three days later for everyone else for some reason.

Resident Evil 6: Operation Revebution 3D

Another Resident Evil?  Okay, sure.  I suppose between next month’s Revelations on 3DS, Operation Raccoon City in March, the Milla Jovavich movie Retribution this Fall, and the animated Damnation, I suppose I can fit in another Resident Evil thing this year. In fact Capcom would have to be crazy to NOT put out Resident Evil 6 this year!
