Scary Girl – Xbox Review

As the XBLA season begins we have our first game that can be considered well executed. Scarygirl is a 2D side scrolling platformer, although many of the levels are structured to have branching paths that give off more of a 3D winding view and feel. Based on Nathan Jurevicius’s graphic novel the game finds Scarygirl making her way from level to level fighting enemies that range from axe-chucking lunatics in a brightly colored forest, to giant neon orange rats in the sewer of the Bad City. All of these levels bring you to a finally face-to-eye patched face with the notorious Dr. Maybee. The premise of Scarygirl is nothing impressive but all of the elements that bring you to that final showdown are executed in at least a fairly well done fashion.

Star Wars the Old Republic: A $200-Million Project

A lot of big numbers and stats have been thrown around by Bioware on the Star Wars: The Old Republic website, but one of the most surprising numbers was reported by the LA Times.  From the initial concept all the way through development, SWTOR cost almost $200 million US dollars to create. The amount of people involved in the games production, included almost 1,000 voice actors for over 4,000 in game characters as well as thousands of Bioware’s artists, designers, producers, story writers, and motion capture employees.

Diablo III Loses Senior Producer

Steve Parker, Senior Producer of Diablo III, announced his departure from Blizzard via Twitter.  He stated on his account, “Hey Twitter, I’m no longer working at Blizzard or on D3. I’ve had a great 5 years there and those guys are going to do an amazing job with Diablo.”
