Rare recently posted a job listing (which has since been taken down) for a senior product manager to work on “multiple AAA future console releases,” Computer and Video Games reported, and these “future releases” might be based on the FPS genre.
Despite the success of 38 Studio’s Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the developer looks to be deep in a financial hole. According to a report by a Rhode Island NBC affiliate, the Rhode Island government offered 38 Studios a $75 million loan to relocate from Massachusetts to Rhode Island, which they accepted. However, now the government is in talks with the developer about its future.
It’s a rare occurrence that video games based on licenses are ever decent, yet store shelves are full of them. The vast majority of titles boast shoddy gameplay mechanics, disgusting visuals, and are about as much fun to play as setting your own face on fire. The large majority of games licensed from films tend to get annihilated in reviews, which is respectable justice in terms of the damage they cause to their players. The developers are damn lucky that this is a good game, because with a title like that there could have been a ton of reviews that begin with “Awesome? NOT!” Fortunately for everyone, Awesomenauts starts with a good premise for gameplay and adds in a ton of funny aesthetics.
Far Cry 3‘s multiplayer was unveiled a couple months ago, but now they are asking for players to test out their latest offerings. On consoles only, Ubisoft has announced that they will be giving 500 players keys to participate in the closed beta of their upcoming island FPS in order to try out these additions to the game. Multiplayer in Far Cry 3 will consist of six classes and up to 16 players competing in both team and free-for-all variants of play. The two modes revealed thus far—Domination and Firestorm—are a little bit of the old and a little something new.
In an interview today, Glen Egan, President of Sanzaru Games, announced that their upcoming Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time will be available for the PS Vita as well as PS3.
