Video Game Awards News Roundup

The Spike Video Game Awards (VGA’s) is an award show that celebrates the best games of the year. This year it will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the L.A. Convention Center. The show is one of only a few award shows that focus completely on gaming, and as a result it often gets a lot of attention. Last years big winners were Uncharted 2: Among Thieves which got best game, and Rocksteady who won best studio.

One of the other reasons it gets attention is that the show normally includes some big reveals or new trailers for upcoming games. Some of this year’s big announcements are thought to include BioWare announcing Mass Effect 3, Batman: Arkham City having a gameplay trailer, a first look at Saints Row 3, and Lucasarts is also rumoured to announce Star Wars Battlefront 3. All of this should make some interesting news to look forward to after the show.

Neil Patrick Harris from How I Met Your Mother will be hosting, and it will feature guests including Jose Gonzalez, Tony Hawk, Dane Cook, Olivia Munn, Denise Richards, Guillermo Del Toro, AnnaLynne McCord, Chris Hemsworth, and Nathan Fillion.

There are twenty-six awards up for grabs this year, a rundown of the four main awards and the nominees are listed bellow. The VGA’s will be broadcast live on Spike TV at 8:00pm on Saturday, December 11.
