Ultra Street Fighter IV’s Release Windows Announced
Capcom today has announced the release windows for
Ultra Street Fighter IV for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Peter "Combofiend" Rosas confirmed the news on Capcom Unity that the latest version of
Street Fighter IV is coming first digitally to PS3 and 360 in early June for $14.99 upgrading from your
Super Street Fighter IV disc. The current iteration is Arcade Edition ver. 2012, so the upgrade will work from that as well. The release timing of this is to be about one month before Evolution 2014, the biggest fighting game tournament in the world, which should be enough time for players to get accustomed to the new characters and changes to the existing cast.
The 360/PS3 retail versions that costs $39.99 will come out sometime in August 2014 along with the digital bundle. Both of these will feature all the downloadable costumes from all of the
Street Fighter IV iterations so far. New costumes for the new characters Rolento, Poison, Elena, Hugo, and a 5th one still not revealed yet will be available via pre-order for the retail versions too. The PC version will also be coming in August as a digital upgrade and bundle. The bundle will be discounted a bit at $29.99 for PC players that are waiting patiently.
Location tests for
Ultra Street Fighter IV happened last weekend at Super Arcade in Southern California, Dreamhack at Europe, and Japanese arcades two weekends earlier where players can play an early build trying out the new changes and characters. Another one is going on at Northeast Championships, NEC for you fighting game community folks, at Philadelphia, PA this weekend with the same build. Then a new build is likely to appear at Capcom Cup next weekend, another fighting game tournament hosted by Capcom themselves this time, with hopefully the announcement of the fifth new character and some exciting action for
Street Fighter X Tekken,
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and the current version of
Super Street Fighter IV,
AE 2012.
In the meantime, the Capcom Fighters YouTube channel posted some matches from the Super Arcade location test last weekend for those that want to see this build in action (some of them are up above). Are the release windows for
Ultra Street Fighter IV too late in the current generation and hoping for PS4/Xbox One versions sometime in the future? Let us know in the comments below.
