Mad Men – The Crash Review: Manic and Surreal

“The Crash” is a peculiar episode of the AMC drama Mad Men, as the employees of the new agency are treated to an “energy serum,” a plot device that changes the style of the show to match their frenzied and altered states of mind. This manic look at Don Draper’s experience will most likely divide viewers, and although there were significant narrative issues, the various amusing and off the wall situations illustrated in this episode make it a worthwhile addition to the season.

Veep – Andrew Review: More Comedy Than Usual and an Interesting Twist

Much of the episode concentrates on the celebration for Selina’s daughter’s 21st birthday. Selina also participates in budget negotiations with Mary King, a congresswoman, throughout the episode including during a party. Selina’s ex-husband appears on the show for the first time, which makes for awkward family relations and creates an uncomfortable situation for their daughter, Catherine.

Nurse Jackie – Walk of Shame Review: Drama Outweighs Comedy in a Bit of a Disappointment

Jackie and Grace are both forced to face the consequences of their actions from the previous night. Jackie is on a walk of shame throughout the episode and she and Kevin have a serious talk with Grace about being not being able to trust their daughter. Jackie ends things with Cruz and enjoys a successful date with Frank to close out the episode.

Game of Thrones – Second Sons: A More Clearly Focused Episode

Game of Thrones eighth episode of the season, “Second Sons,” introduces us to the devilishly smooth and handsome Daario, gives Sam a chance to be a hero, allows Gendry to meet his not so pleasant fate, and shows us the wedding between Tyrion and Sansa – much to the dismay of both. As the show moves toward its final end game, Dany is getting stronger and Westeros is becoming more and more mired in war and intrigue.

Miles and Rachel’s past is explored in “The Longest Day,” making it one of the most enjoyable episodes of the season. The flashback provides anticipated information on the characters as well as providing contrast to their current states.
