The Walking Dead – “Dead Weight” Review: A Waste of Time

After starting the season with so much promise, I’m really worried The Walking Dead is regressing at a rapid rate. It turns out that this two episode sidebar into the life of the Governor wasn’t about rehabilitating his image or even showing us a new side of the megalomaniac. In the end, the Governor essentially […]

Doctor Who – “The Day of the Doctor” Review: A Wonderful Celebration of the Past and Present

Parks and Recreation – Fluoride and The Cones of Dunshire Review: Final Episodes of 2013 Are Middle-of-the-Road

This double-episode offering was not my favorite hour of Parks and Rec, and it certainly wasn’t as strong as the back-to-back episodes last week, especially since the storylines were not as cohesive—although NBC deserves most of the blame for this scheduling mess. Of course, I can’t complain too much. Any episodes that begin with fun […]

Almost Human – Pilot & Skin Review: CSI With Robots

With a capable cast and glossy look, Fox’s Almost Human takes the crime procedural and transports it into a world where robots are the norm and the police department requires all cops to partner with an android. BBC’s Doctor Who whet the appetites of fans with a well crafted webisode that explained the origins of the War Doctor (John Hurt). With a surprise appearance by Eight (Paul McGann), the show presented the creation of the War Doctor, and hinted at the darkness to come in the 50th anniversary special.

Homeland – A Red Wheelbarrow Review – Best Yet?

“A Red Wheelbarrow” may be the most successful episode of Homeland ‘s third season so far, but still suffers from the narrative issues that have plagued its predecessors. The writers’ attempts to intrigue and surprise viewers play out like cheap, plot twists sacrificing the quality of the story. Still, the Showtime drama is able to provide the adequate performances and entertaining scenarios we have come to expect.

The Walking Dead “Live Bait” Review: A Weak Return for the Governor

AMC’s The Walking Dead brought back the Governor for an extremely weak outing in “Live Bait.” Attempting to show us a softer side of the show’s season three villain, Dead failed to deliver, turning in a slow and clunky hour.

Homeland – Gerontion Review: Just Underwhelming

“Gerontion” is free of the tiresome and irritating Brody family drama but fails to engage on an emotional and even narrative level. Despite some intriguing plot developments and adequate narrative advancement, the episode is an underwhelming string of events with a couple of highlights here and there.
