It’s Always Sunny – Dee Reynolds: Shaping America’s Youth

Thankfully they decided to continue the storylines from last week’s episode and the opening scene is great. Charlie has always been a sort of janitor and he seems to really like his position and gets along with the kids. I was surprised they actually showed him some respect, we are conditioned to look at high school kids in TV as nothing more than apathy ridden jerks and it’s nice to see Charlie in a new surrounding that he can thrive in.

30 Rock- Brooklyn Without Limits

After a few weeks of episodes that didn’t do much to further the show’s running plot lines, this week 30 Rock brought us “Brooklyn Without Limits” which reminds the audience of both Tracy Jordan’s scheme to win an Oscar, and Jack’s impending merger between NBC and Kabletown.  We also get to see Liz Lemon strut around in sexy jeans, plus a guest spot by John Slattery from Mad Men.

The Office – Viewing Party

Last night’s episode of The Office was the funniest since I’ve started writing these recaps. Granted, that’s only three episodes. But while it wasn’t a classic, it was pretty funny, and unlike last week, capitalized pretty well on the chemistry on having the whole cast together (minus a couple people) outside Dunder Mifflin.

South Park – Coon vs. Coon and Friends

The Superhero trilogy comes to a close and, while not perfect, it ends on a high note. They took the comedic route in this episode, as opposed to last week’s episode where they choice to delve more into the mythology of the show. The results are mixed but more positive than negative.

Eastbound & Down – Chapter 13

Eastbound & Down is one the few shows that can have its worst episode and that episode still be good enough to receive such a high score. Chapter 13 does have several laughs, but overall feels unnecessary. Last week’s episode ended the season on a perfect note. It was nice to see Kenny back in his hometown, but he seemed like his old self again throughout most of the episode.

Weeds – Fran Tarkenton

Last night’s episode of Weeds was one of the best in a while, moving bits of the story forward after a fair amount of stagnation and ending in yet another classic sticky situation cliffhanger. However you feel about the show, you have to admit that it’s pretty darn unpredictable, and the season’s penultimate episode showed that in a lot of ways.

It’s Always Sunny – The Gang Gets A New Member

Did you know that the gang had a whole life before the owned Paddy’s Pub? Yeah, I know it’s sort of a dumb thing to say, but the show has rarely, if ever now that I think about it, delved into the past of our characters. We know that Dennis and Dee had terrible parents, but other than random one liners about high school we know very little about their past. In this weeks episode a past member of the gang resurfaces and the group dynamic is changed…..but in typical Sunny fashion… changed back.

Supernatural – Family Matters

This week’s episode of Supernatural brings some very interesting mysteries to light and it’s doing so at the perfect time too. If the mysteries of what Sam is and what Samuel was doing went on much further, then those plotlines would have became exhausting. It is a bit surprising that the promo for this episode gave away such a big secret. However, the revelation that Sam is acting strangely because he has no soul is actually a very good twist. If it turned out it was a monster or demon looking like him, then that would have felt cheap. The ramification of this reveal does feel slightly ambiguous. That’s mainly due to nature of what a soul really is… or if it even exists.

30 Rock- Gentleman’s Intermission

The exact nature of Liz and Jack’s Pentor/ Pupil relationship has been explored in the last few episodes of 30 Rock.  Two weeks ago in “Reaganing” Jack viewed Liz as the ultimate problem-ridden target for his mentorship, and in this week’s episode, “Gentleman’s Intermission” Jack is given an ultimatum by his pregnant girlfriend Avery who insists that he stop helping Liz with her personal life.

Fringe – Amber 31422

Fringe is back from its small break due to, sigh… baseball, but the trend of it being one of the best shows on television continues. That’s a bit surprising for me to say, since I think the show started off somewhat sub-par, but with a lot of potential. However, since about the halfway point of last season, it has escalated to a much higher level of quality. Mainly thanks to the show becoming more serialized and quickly developing its characters. The trend of each episode switching from our universe to the alternate one continues here.
