It doesn’t surprise me at all that there would be mixed responses to the season finale of American Horror Story: Asylum. When you have a show so completely riddled with horrifying vulgarity from the get-go like this season’s Asylum storyline, it would only make sense for the show to leave the viewers feeling unhinged to the end credits
The Asylum series finale just can’t live up to the previous season, concluding as dismally as it began.
It has been awhile since I was firmly reminded of the fact that snakes freak me out. I mean, the limbless reptile has always made me unhinged, but I rarely see a thing like a guy getting massacred by a room full of the poisonous variety like a Looney Tunes character surrounded by mouse traps.
The Following pilot premieres on Fox, it has promise wIth a mixed bag of good acting with some very sub-par performances.
In an otherwise solid series, “The American Dream” is stagnant and tedious, falling far short of the standard.
The situation with the Reach gets a little more colorful as Robin leads a covert op into the produce department. And when is running into a cornfield ever a good idea?
In the back-to-back episodes that served as series finale for Fringe, the overarching story circled back to itself, revisiting the past and using it to explore the show’s perennial themes of love and fatherhood. Also woven into the fabric of the story were emotional reminders of what each character stood for over the past four years. All that was laid out in the finale before a breathtaking roller coaster to a satisfying ending.
The Pointy End of the Spear had an appealing sense of symmetry because of the similarity between the mutiny on the island and the threat to the U.S. democracy in the American capital. The two parallel chains of events were essentially attempts at coup each unfolding with a formal gathering as backdrop. Unfortunately, the show chose the easy way out, preserving the U.S. democracy that should never have been threatened in the first place.
Finally, the most irritating plotline of all time is done–hopefully. This gives room for Lana Winters to grow as a character at last.
Right off the bat, you know you’re in for a good episode of Justified when you have a suave U.S. Marshall like Raylan Givens deal with the most white trash of white trash families in the history of white trash families to be personified in a TV show. And not only were all the members of this particular clan just the epitome of rude, crude, I-don’t-give-a-french-toast-about-dying bottom feeders who live off deceit and disability checks, Raylan had company in this first step of the mystery of Waldo Truth’s bag.
